The company prides itself on building close relationships with customers through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts who provide valuable advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and operational strategies. PFG is more than just a food distributor; it is a partner that supports the growth and success of independent restaurant owners, helping them achieve their dreams through exceptional products and services. With a commitment to delivering delicious food and unparalleled customer service, Performance Foodservice is an essential pillar in the food supply chain, ensuring that clients receive not only high-quality goods but also expert support tailored to their unique needs.
The CDL-A Driver plays a vital role within PFG’s operations, fulfilling a key responsibility in the company’s food distribution system. This position is designed for professional drivers skilled in operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes including intrastate, interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight runs. The role requires dispatch starting between 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM for routes typically lasting 12 to 13 hours, Monday through Friday. The CDL-A Driver is entrusted with delivering and unloading food and food-related products in a safe, timely, and customer-focused manner while strictly adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. With competitive pay ranging from $80,000 to $90,000 annually depending on the route and benefits starting from day one of employment, this role offers attractive compensation and job security.
Beyond just delivery, the CDL-A Driver acts as the face of the company, fostering strong customer relationships by communicating professionally and ensuring customer satisfaction with each interaction. The driver carries out essential safety inspections and complies with rigorous DOT guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Duties encompass managing delivery paperwork accurately, performing damage control on freight, securing loads, and handling customer transactions when necessary. The role also demands a strong sense of responsibility to report any safety hazards and maintain cleanliness of both the vehicle and loading areas.
Performance Foodservice emphasizes a safe and inclusive working environment that values rewards, recognition, and respect among its employees. Additionally, the company provides growth opportunities within the essential domain of food distribution, ensuring that employees can advance while contributing meaningfully to the community’s food security. Benefits extended to the CDL-A Driver include a Health and Wellness Plan effective on day one, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, employer-matched 401K, education assistance, paid time off, and much more. PFG’s dedication to equal employment opportunity underscores its commitment to diversity and fairness, promoting an inclusive workplace where everyone is respected regardless of background or personal characteristics.
