This position is an entry-level Driver Trainee role, designed to provide hands-on experience and professional training in operating tractor trailers or straight trucks. Trainees will work on various routes, including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight deliveries, ensuring that all products are safely transported and unloaded following company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The Driver Trainee will participate in the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program, completing all required training documentation and working alongside experienced driver trainers to gain practical knowledge.

Key responsibilities include conducting mandatory pre- and post-trip safety inspections according to DOT standards, securing freight, adhering strictly to safety guidelines, and maintaining accurate delivery records. The trainee will interact professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers, upholding high standards of customer service and teamwork. This role demands attention to detail in verifying shipments, handling deliveries and returns, managing paperwork, and ensuring the cleanliness and security of equipment and trailers.

Working a Monday through Friday schedule with an early morning dispatch window from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., Driver Trainees can expect a reliable annual salary ranging from $62,000 to $85,000, commensurate with experience and performance. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • At least six months commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL class A license
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past three years
  • Pass post offer drug test and road test
  • Attain or hold current DOT health card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, and other equipment to move product cases ranging from 60 to 90 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Six months of commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL class A license
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report for the past three years
  • Pass post offer drug test
  • Pass road test
  • Have or attain valid current DOT health card
  • Able to hand-lift and use equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to move product cases between 60 and 90 pounds

Job Duties

  • Attend and successfully complete PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program
  • Ride with and assist driver trainer in executing deliveries
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of tractor/truck and trailer per DOT regulations
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines
  • Inspect trailers for properly loaded and secured freight and complete associated paperwork
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to route schedule
  • Unload products, verify delivery with customers, and handle returns and damaged goods
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are secured at all times
  • Complete daily hours of service records and logs
  • Perform general housekeeping duties and secure equipment at shift end
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
