With a team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts, Performance Foodservice provides more than just food distribution; they offer valuable expertise in operational improvement, menu development, product selection, and strategic planning, helping independent restaurant owners and other clients thrive in their businesses. Known for delivering high-quality products and excellent service, the company places a strong emphasis on building lasting relationships with customers. PFG's mission is to contribute significantly to the food supply chain by ensuring timely and safe delivery of products, fostering growth opportunities for employees, and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful working culture. The company is committed to equal employment opportunity, maintaining policies that protect employees and applicants regardless of race, gender, age, or other protected characteristics, which underscores its dedication to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice is a critical role that supports America’s food distribution system by ensuring that food and related products are delivered efficiently and safely. This full-time role operates on a Monday through Friday schedule, with dispatch times between 4:00am and 6:00am, offering a competitive annual salary ranging from $62,000 to $85,000. The CDL-A Driver is tasked with driving either a tractor-trailer or a straight truck on various routes including intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight routes. Deliveries are made in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies, emphasizing not just operational efficiency but also safety and customer satisfaction.
Drivers are the face of Performance Foodservice to customers, responsible for building positive relationships through professional interaction and dependable service. They handle essential duties such as performing safety inspections on vehicles before and after trips, ensuring freight is properly loaded and secured, completing all required paperwork accurately, and collecting payments when necessary. The role also entails unloading products and placing them in designated storage areas, managing damaged goods according to company policy, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the truck, trailer, and loading dock areas.
Drivers must demonstrate the ability to operate necessary equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates to handle product cases of varying sizes and weights, ranging generally from 10 to 35 pounds up to between 60 and 90 pounds depending on the delivery location. Drivers are required to pass rigorous background checks, road tests, and drug tests, as well as maintain a clean motor vehicle report for the past three years. Additionally, drivers must have a valid CDL-A license, be at least 21 years old, and hold or be able to obtain a valid Department of Transportation health card.
