This position offers a competitive pay rate of $37.50 per hour with weekly paycheck distribution, along with an employee-focused schedule from Monday to Saturday, including early dispatch hours between 3 AM and 5 AM, with a guaranteed day off during the week and Sundays off. The CDL-A Driver position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of America's food supply chain by ensuring the timely and safe delivery of food and food service products. This role requires proficiency in operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local runs, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop assignments. The CDL-A Driver serves as the company’s representative while on the road, developing lasting relationships with customers through professional communication and dependable service. Drivers are responsible for complying with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, performing rigorous safety inspections before and after trips, and ensuring the secure loading and unloading of freight.
The responsibilities of this role extend to accurately handling all required paperwork, conducting damage checks, maintaining records of hours of service, and performing general housekeeping duties related to vehicles and trailers. Drivers must manage the collection of payments when necessary and ensure that all equipment, vehicles, and freight are securely locked at the end of each shift. This role is vital in supporting the broader operations of the company and ensuring customer satisfaction by providing efficient and professional delivery services. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- valid CDL-A license
- minimum 6 months of commercial driving experience
- must be 21 years of age or older
- clean motor vehicle report for the past 3 years
- ability to pass post offer drug and road tests
- current or obtainable DOT Health Card
- able to lift and handle freight weighing between 10 and 90 pounds using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates
- meet all applicable state licensing and certification requirements
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- 6+ months commercial driving experience
- valid CDL-A
- must be 21+ years of age
- meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test
- pass road test
- attains or has valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
- product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to approximately 60-90 pounds depending on location
Job Duties
- Performs all required safety checks including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
- inspects tractor/truck and trailer to insure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed
- reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
- follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- immediately reports all safety hazards
- inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
- checks and completes in an accurate and in legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight
- moves tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- unloads products from the trailer, transports items into designated customer storage areas
- performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
- collects money (cash or checks) where required
- loads customer returns on to trailer and secures trailer doors
- ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured
- unloads damaged goods and customer returns and brings to the driver check-in and completes necessary paperwork
- unloads all equipment, materials and removes trash from trailers as required
- completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean as required
- at the end of the shift secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork
- performs other related duties as assigned
