The role of the CDL-A Driver within Performance Foodservice is crucial to the company’s mission of supporting America's food distribution system. Delivery drivers are essential in ensuring that food and food-related products are delivered safely, on time, and in excellent condition to customers. These drivers directly represent the company and are responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with customers while performing their deliveries. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule, with dispatch hours from 4:00 am to 6:00 am, and offers a competitive annual salary range of $62,000 to $85,000.

This role involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes, including intrastate, interstate, local, and over-the-road deliveries, as well as shuttle and overnight drop routes. The CDL-A Driver is responsible for conducting pre- and post-trip safety inspections of all vehicles and trailers to ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards. This includes addressing any reported safety concerns or necessary repairs promptly. Drivers must follow all DOT regulations and company policies related to safe driving practices, demonstrate a high level of professionalism when interacting with customers, vendors, and co-workers, and be an effective team player within the organization.

Additional responsibilities include verifying freight accuracy, handling paperwork meticulously, securing freight properly to prevent damage, and performing damage control checks while maintaining excellent customer service by obtaining signatures and collecting payments when required. Drivers are also expected to maintain cleanliness and order of their vehicles and work areas and complete all necessary records, including hours of service logs in accordance with federal and state regulations.
