Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a leading broadline distributor under Performance Food Group (PFG), plays a pivotal role in America's food supply chain by maintaining strong relationships with a diverse range of local customers. These customers include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company is distinguished not only by its extensive product offerings but also by the comprehensive support it provides through its expert team comprising sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other specialists. This team works closely with customers to enhance their operations, aid in menu development, optimize product selection, and refine overall operational strategies. Performance Foodservice's commitment extends beyond simply delivering high-quality food products; it strives to empower independent restaurant owners and food service providers to realize their business goals and dreams. The company fosters a safe, inclusive, and respectful work environment, emphasizing recognition, rewards, and employee growth opportunities.

The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice is a critical role within this market-leading company, offering competitive wages starting at a minimum of $310 per day with potential earning opportunities beyond this base pay. Employment is structured with a Monday through Saturday schedule, including one weekday off and Sundays off, with dispatch beginning between 3 AM and 5 AM. This role demands a dedicated professional who will serve as the face of the company to customers, delivering food and food-service products in compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards. The CDL-A Driver will be responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive and drop assignments. Key job functions include conducting thorough pre- and post-trip safety inspections, managing freight loading and unloading processes, verifying delivery accuracy, and maintaining detailed and accurate paperwork related to freight and delivery activities.

In addition to technical driving skills, this role requires a customer-focused mindset, as drivers regularly engage with customers, vendors, and co-workers, representing the company's values and commitment to quality service. Drivers will also participate as valuable team members within the broader Performance Foodservice organization, supporting company goals and operational efficiency. The job entails physical demands such as hand-lifting and using equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates to handle varying weights of freight — generally ranging from 10 to 35 pounds, with occasional heavier loads up to 60 to 90 pounds depending on location. Furthermore, compliance with DOT health and safety regulations is mandatory, including possession of a valid or obtainable DOT Health Card.

Performance Foodservice places a strong emphasis on employee well-being and development, offering a competitive benefits package that begins from day one. Benefits include health and wellness coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, 401(k) with employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, among others. The company is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer, committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace, ensuring fair treatment regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, marital status, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic. For individuals who are seeking a stable and rewarding career in food logistics and delivery, with opportunities to grow alongside a respected industry leader, the CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice offers a compelling opportunity.
