The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice is a vital and dynamic role within the company. Delivery drivers are integral members of the team who ensure that food and related products reach customers safely, accurately, and on time. Drivers act as the face of the company, building lasting relationships through professional and courteous customer interactions. This full-time role requires a commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and excellent customer service. CDL-A drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks across intrastate routes, interstates, local deliveries, shuttle runs, and overnight schedules. Daily responsibilities include making pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and trailer to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) and company safety standards, complying with DOT regulations, reporting any safety hazards, and ensuring freight is properly secured and accounted for during transit. Drivers must maintain detailed records including hours of service logs and freight paperwork, demonstrating accuracy and professionalism. They handle loading and unloading freight, perform damage control checks, secure cargo, and resolve any delivery discrepancies by communicating effectively with supervisors and customers. The position also requires physical capability to handle product freight typically ranging from 10 to 90 pounds, utilizing equipment such as forklifts, lift gates, and two-wheelers to maneuver goods safely. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or GED or equivalent
- valid CDL-A license
- be 21 years of age or older
- 6+ months commercial driving experience
- clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test
- pass road test
- attain or have current DOT health card or ability to acquire one
- able to hand-lift and use equipment to move freight weighing 10 to 90 pounds
- comply with all DOT and company safety regulations
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or GED or equivalent

- meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
- clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- pass post-offer drug test
- pass road test
- attain or possess a valid current DOT health card or be able to secure one
- able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and other equipment to move product cases or freight ranging between 10 and 90 pounds
Job Duties
- perform all required safety checks including pre- and post-trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies
- immediately report all safety hazards
- inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- perform count check of items and verify accuracy of customer invoices
- attach preloaded trailer to the tractor as needed
- drive and deliver customer orders according to preset routes and schedules
- unload products and transport items to designated customer storage areas
- perform damage control checks and contact supervisors about order issues
- verify delivery completion with customer and obtain signatures
- collect payments where required
- load customer returns and secure trailer doors
- ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and secured
- unload damaged goods and returns and complete necessary paperwork
- complete daily hours of service log in accordance with federal and state requirements
- perform general housekeeping duties including cleaning trailers and loading dock areas
- perform other related duties as assigned
