Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a broadline distributor under Performance Food Group (PFG), plays a crucial role in delivering food products to a diverse range of local customers such as independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. By maintaining close relationships through a team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and experts, the company not only supplies delicious food but also advises clients on improving their operations, menu development, product selection, and overall business strategies. With a committed workforce, Performance Foodservice fosters an inclusive and respectful working environment, emphasizing growth, safety, and employee recognition. This makes it a trusted partner and employer in the food distribution industry.
The company is currently expanding its team and is seeking committed CDL-A Drivers to join their delivery workforce. This is a full-time position with excellent earning potential, offering a salary range from $65,000 to $75,000, with opportunities to earn up to $90,000 annually. The role involves shift dispatch times starting between 3:00 am and 5:30 am. As a CDL-A Driver, the successful candidate will be a key part of the food supply chain by ensuring timely and safe delivery of food and food service products. Beyond mere transportation, these drivers act as ambassadors for the company, creating positive and lasting customer relationships through professional communication and dependability.
The CDL-A Driver position requires driving tasks that include operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks on local, intrastate, interstate, over-the-road, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes. Candidates will have the responsibility to perform safety checks on equipment, uphold Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, complete necessary documentation accurately, secure freight, and handle both delivery and customer returns. The role calls for a combination of skill in vehicle operation, detail orientation in verifying orders and paperwork, strength in handling freight (generally ranging from 10 to 90 pounds), and the ability to provide excellent customer service.
Performance Foodservice promotes a culture of safety and inclusivity, with benefits starting from the very first day of employment. This includes health and wellness benefits, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and a workplace culture that rewards and recognizes employees. The company also values integrity and legal compliance, requiring clean driving records and adherence to safety and health standards. This position not only offers financial stability and benefits but also a chance to grow professionally while supporting America’s vital food distribution system.
