Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline foodservice distributor committed to serving a diverse range of local customers. These customers include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. PFG partners with its clients by providing not just products but also expertise through a dedicated team comprising sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts. This team works closely with customers to offer valuable advice on improving operations, developing appealing menus, selecting the right products, and optimizing operational strategies. The company's core mission extends beyond simply delivering food; it aims to support independent restaurant owners and foodservice providers in achieving their business goals by fostering strong, lasting relationships built on trust and high-quality service.

The role available is for a CDL-A Delivery Driver, an essential position in the food distribution supply chain. This role is based on local routes with home daily operations and dispatch hours between 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM, operating Monday through Friday on a 12-13 hour route schedule. The position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $80,000 to $90,000 depending on the route. From day one, employees gain access to a variety of attractive benefits including health and wellness coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. Beyond rewards and remuneration, PFG emphasizes growth opportunities and a safe, inclusive working environment that values recognition and respect.

As a CDL-A Delivery Driver with Performance Foodservice, you will be driving either straight trucks or tractor-trailer combinations to deliver food and related products. These deliveries occur both intrastate and interstate, covering local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight routes as necessary. The delivery driver not only ensures timely and safe delivery of products but also serves as the company’s representative to customers, providing essential customer service and fostering positive relationships. Key responsibilities include conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections, complying fully with Department of Transportation regulations, and maintaining safety standards for the tractor/trailer and freight handled. The role also involves direct interaction with customers, vendors, and coworkers, ensuring accurate communication and superior service at every step.

Additional duties involve managing product loading and unloading, verifying shipments against invoices, performing damage control, collecting payments when required, and maintaining comprehensive records such as hours of service logs in line with federal and company requirements. Drivers are responsible for securing their vehicles and freight properly, including locking and safeguarding trailers. The position demands physical capability to handle moderate to heavy freight, often ranging between 10 to 35 pounds and in certain cases heavier, up to 90 pounds. The driver also plays a critical role in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness around the loading dock and vehicle. Through this multifaceted role, the CDL-A Driver supports the seamless operation of PFG's food distribution network, contributing to the overall success and reliability of the company's service to its customers.
