Job Description
PFG Customized Distribution is a leading food distribution company specializing in meeting the unique needs of some of America's most recognized national chain restaurants such as Cracker Barrel, TGI Friday's, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, and Ruby Tuesday. With operations spanning across the United States and extending to more than 40 countries, PFG Customized Distribution ensures tailored service and centralized contact for product lines, menu changes, and account coordination to provide unparalleled customer support. The company places a strong emphasis on safety, inclusivity, and growth, offering a work environment that rewards, recognizes, and respects its employees.
The CDL-A Driver position at PFG Customized Distribution plays a vital role in the food supply chain by delivering food and food service products safely and efficiently to customers. This role commands competitive compensation starting with a minimum weekly guaranteed pay of $1,350 and an average annual pay ranging from $70,000 to $80,000. Drivers work on varied schedules, typically needing to be available a minimum of four days between Sunday and Saturday, with dispatch times occurring between 7 pm and 3 am. The company also offers a substantial sign-on bonus of $7,500, subject to terms, and promotes team driving to foster collaboration and safety.
In this role, the CDL-A Driver operates tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight delivery. Drivers are responsible for ensuring all goods arrive at their destinations on time, intact, and under all Department of Transportation regulations. Safety is a priority, requiring complete pre and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers to maintain company safety standards.
Aside from driving expertise, the role demands strong customer service skills as drivers are the direct representatives of the company in the field, building and sustaining lasting relationships with clients. The CDL-A Driver must communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and internal teams, accurately handling inquiries and ensuring a seamless delivery process. Administrative duties such as accurate paperwork completion, counting and verifying loaded items, and obtaining customer signatures are integral parts of the responsibility.
Additional key duties include unloading products at customer locations, using equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates for moving freight, performing damage control checks, and securing cargo and vehicles at all times. Drivers are also expected to adhere to federal and state safety regulations, maintain cleanliness in work areas, and complete daily records such as hours of service logs. The position demands physical capability for handling freight that can range between 10-35 pounds and occasionally up to 60-90 pounds depending on location.
PFG Customized Distribution values diversity and equal employment opportunity (EEO) and provides inclusive employment practices regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, or other protected characteristics. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes day-one health and wellness benefits, employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. The CDL-A Driver role thus not only offers competitive pay and benefits but also opportunity for career growth within a company that supports essential work in America's food distribution system.
