Job Description

PFG Customized Distribution, a division of Performance Food Group, is a prominent player in the foodservice distribution industry, catering to the specific needs of some of America's most recognized national chain restaurants. Their clients include well-known names such as Cracker Barrel, TGI Friday's, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, and Ruby Tuesday. With a vast geographic reach, PFG Customized Distribution serves customers across the United States and extends its services to more than 40 countries worldwide. The company prides itself on providing customized attention and a centralized contact system for handling product lines, menu changes, and account coordination, which ensures smooth operations and satisfied clients.

This role is for a CDL-A Driver at PFG Customized Distribution. The position plays a vital role in America’s food supply chain by ensuring that food and food service products are delivered safely and on time to customers. With a minimum weekly guaranteed pay of $1,350 and an average annual pay ranging from $70,000 to $80,000, this job offers competitive compensation along with a sign-on bonus of $7,500, subject to terms. The work schedule involves a minimum of four days per week with dispatch times between 7 pm and 3 am, with days varying between Sunday and Saturday. The role includes team driving responsibilities, emphasizing collaboration and efficiency.

The CDL-A Driver is responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes. This requires adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, safety protocols, and company policies. Drivers are not only responsible for delivering food products but also act as the face of the company. This means building and maintaining lasting relationships with customers through professional communication and exemplary service.

Primary responsibilities include conducting mandatory safety inspections before and after trips, ensuring tractor, truck, and trailers meet safety standards, and reporting any safety concerns or needed repairs promptly. Drivers perform accurate count checks, verify customer invoices, complete required paperwork, and secure freight properly. They also manage unloading products, damage control, customer signatures, and cash or check collection when necessary.

In addition to driving duties, the role includes general housekeeping tasks such as keeping trailers clean and equipment secured after each shift. Drivers are expected to maintain accurate logs of their hours in compliance with federal and state regulations. The position offers opportunities for growth, provides a safe and inclusive working environment, and rewards employees through recognition programs.

This comprehensive role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and customer service. Potential candidates should be prepared to meet the demands of varied driving routes and shifts while upholding the company's standards. PFG Customized Distribution supports its drivers with day one health and wellness benefits, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more.
