The CDL-A Driver position at PFG Customized Distribution plays a critical role in the country's food supply chain. These drivers deliver essential food and food service products safely and on time, ensuring customers receive their orders in excellent condition. Serving as the face of the company, CDL-A Drivers build lasting relationships with customers by maintaining professionalism in all interactions. This role involves driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries. Drivers are responsible for adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies, performing pre and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicles meet safety standards, accurately handling paperwork and invoices, and managing secure loading and unloading of freight.
This position features an attractive compensation package with an average annual salary ranging from $70,000 to $80,000 and a guaranteed weekly minimum pay of $1,350. Additionally, successful candidates are eligible for a welcome bonus of $6,000 (terms apply). The schedule is typically Monday through Friday with dispatch times between 11 pm and 2 am, and team driving opportunities are available. CDL-A Drivers are expected to perform a variety of duties, including damage control checks, verifying deliveries, collecting payments when required, and maintaining cleanliness and security of equipment and freight. This role is physically demanding, requiring the ability to hand-lift and use equipment such as two-wheelers or lift gates to manage product cases and freight ranging generally between 10 to 90 pounds, depending on location.
Candidates must be at least 21 years old and meet all state licensing certifications relevant to commercial driving. A clean Motor Vehicle Report for the past three years is required, as well as passing drug tests, background checks, and road tests. Drivers must also hold a valid CDL-A license and DOT Health Card or be able to obtain one. The company emphasizes safety, teamwork, and operational excellence, encouraging drivers to work collaboratively within their departments to serve the company effectively. As a key link in delivering quality food service to national and regional foodservice providers, PFG Customized Distribution offers stable employment with significant growth and advancement opportunities in a supportive and inclusive work environment.
