Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a key division of Performance Food Group (PFG), stands as a broadline distributor specializing in delivering exceptional foodservice solutions to a diverse range of local customers. The company services a broad array of sectors including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries, creating a vital link in the food supply chain. A dedicated team comprising sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts collaborate closely with clients to offer valuable guidance on operational improvements, menu development, product selection, and strategic planning, thereby enabling their customers to thrive in a competitive market.

Performance Foodservice is not just a distributor; it is a committed partner to independent restaurant owners and foodservice operators, helping them turn their visions into realities. The company fosters a culture of inclusion, safety, and recognition, adhering strictly to equal employment opportunity policies that embrace diversity across multiple dimensions such as race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, and more.

The role of CDL-A Driver at Performance Foodservice offers an outstanding career opportunity within this expansive and dynamic enterprise. This full-time position comes with an average annual pay around $80,000, dependent on route assignments and scheduling arrangements. Drivers typically work Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays, reporting for dispatch early in the morning between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. The routes extend for about 10 to 12 hours daily, allowing drivers to return home each night, supporting work-life balance.

This position is critical in maintaining the seamless flow of food products throughout America. CDL-A Drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes including intrastate and interstate travel, over-the-road journeys, shuttle runs, overnight routes, and drive-and-drop missions. Their responsibilities encompass more than just driving; they are the frontline representatives of the company, bridging customer relationships with operational excellence.

Safety and compliance are paramount. Drivers are expected to conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections on their vehicles to comply with Department of Transportation regulations and company safety standards. They must report any defects or safety concerns candidly and immediately. Throughout their routes, drivers handle freight securely, verify order accuracy, collect payments when required, manage damaged goods and customer returns, and complete detailed documentation ensuring all processes meet regulatory and company criteria.

Performance Foodservice values growth and rewards dedication, providing competitive benefits from day one including health and wellness programs, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, among others. This presents an enriching work environment where drivers can develop their careers while making significant contributions to the vital food distribution network that feeds communities nationwide.
