Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline food distributor that plays an essential role in the food supply chain across the United States. With a customer base that includes independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries, Performance Foodservice prides itself on delivering not only high-quality food products but also exceptional service and expert consultation. Their team, composed of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts, works closely with clients to improve operations, assist with menu development, product selection, and operational strategies, thereby helping independent restaurant owners and other customers achieve their business goals. The company fosters an inclusive and supportive work environment, promoting a culture of respect, recognition, and safety, while offering competitive pay and comprehensive benefits to its employees.

This job opportunity is for a CDL-A Driver position, offering an hourly wage of $37.50 with weekly paychecks and scheduled working hours from Monday to Saturday, including an early dispatch between 3 AM and 5 AM. The schedule includes one weekday off plus every Sunday off. This role is integral to the ongoing success of America’s food distribution system, ensuring the timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products to diverse customers. The CDL-A Driver operates tractor-trailers or straight trucks, working intrastate and interstate routes that include local deliveries, over-the-road trips, shuttle services, and overnight drives. Drivers are responsible for securing freight, performing safety inspections, and delivering products while maintaining compliance with Department of Transportation regulations.

Drivers are the face of Performance Foodservice, tasked with building strong customer relationships through professionalism, accuracy, and timeliness. This role involves a mix of driving, loading and unloading freight, paperwork management, and equipment maintenance. The CDL-A Driver will perform pre-trip and post-trip safety checks, inspect loads to ensure security, and report any safety concerns promptly. Accurate documentation and invoicing, managing customer interactions, and ensuring the integrity of deliveries are key duties. Drivers also handle customer returns and damaged goods in accordance with company policies. They play an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness and order of their vehicles and work areas. This position requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift and move products ranging typically between 10 and 90 pounds using manual handling equipment like hand trucks and lift gates.

Performance Foodservice offers a safe, inclusive, and rewarding work environment with numerous benefits such as day-one health and wellness coverage, 401(k) employer matching, employee stock purchase plans, paid time off, and education assistance. These perks, combined with the opportunity for career growth in a critical industry sector, make this role ideal for candidates who are safety-conscious, customer-focused, and ready to contribute to a team-oriented culture. The company is committed to equal employment opportunity and diversity in the workplace, ensuring an environment where all employees can thrive and succeed. If you have a valid CDL-A license, a clean driving record, and are passionate about delivering essential goods safely and professionally, join Performance Foodservice and play your part in supporting America’s food system.
