The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice is pivotal within the food distribution supply chain. This role involves the safe and timely delivery of food and related products to various customers by operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive and drop assignments. Drivers not only ensure that goods arrive in excellent condition and according to schedule but also serve as the face of the company, building and maintaining lasting customer relationships. The job offers a robust salary range from $77,000 to $88,000, with a potential to earn up to $90,000 annually, and features a unique four-day workweek with dispatch shifts beginning between 3:00 AM and 5:30 AM.
The responsibilities of a CDL-A Driver include conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies, and maintaining accurate and legible freight and delivery documentation. The role demands a proactive approach to reporting safety hazards and equipment repairs, maintaining clean and organized workspaces and trailers, and fulfilling all administrative requirements such as daily log entries of hours of service. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a respected company that values safety, efficiency, and customer service excellence while contributing meaningfully to the food distribution infrastructure across the United States.
