Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a broadline distributor under Performance Food Group (PFG), plays a pivotal role in the food distribution industry by catering to a wide range of local customers such as independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. This company stands out by combining expert sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other specialists who engage closely with clients to provide tailored advice on menu development, product selection, operational strategies, and overall business improvement. The Performance Foodservice team is dedicated not just to delivering quality food, but to fostering the growth and success of independent restaurant owners and other clients, embodying a customer-first philosophy and a commitment to excellence in service. As an inclusive employer, Performance Food Group prioritizes equality and diversity, providing equal employment opportunities consistent with federal, state, and local laws.

The position available is for a CDL-A Driver, a crucial role within the company’s logistics and supply chain operations. This full-time role pays $37.50 per hour with weekly paycheck distribution and offers a Monday to Friday schedule, with Saturdays as needed. Dispatch begins between 3 AM and 5 AM, reflecting the essential nature of timely deliveries within the food service delivery sector. CDL-A Drivers are responsible for driving tractor trailers or straight trucks both within state lines and across states on local, overnight, and over-the-road routes, involving shuttle or drive-and-drop deliveries of food and related products. The role demands strict adherence to Department of Transportation regulations, safe driving practices, and company policies to ensure the safe, timely, and effective transport of goods.

Drivers represent the face of Performance Foodservice to its customers, playing an integral role in establishing and maintaining trust and strong customer relationships. The CDL-A Driver ensures products arrive on schedule and in optimal condition, providing excellent customer service through clear and professional communication with customers, vendors, and co-workers. This position also involves meticulous attention to vehicle and trailer inspections, safety checks, freight loading and unloading, inventory verification, and completing detailed delivery documentation accurately. The job requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift product cases weighing up to between 60 and 90 pounds and operate equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates.

Performance Foodservice supports its drivers with competitive compensation and benefits, including day-one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and many other rewards. The working environment fosters safety, inclusivity, respect, recognition, and professional growth opportunities. This role is vital in supporting America’s food distribution infrastructure and offers a meaningful career for those dedicated to the logistics and transportation industry.
