This job opportunity is for a US Foods Driver, a vital role responsible for safely delivering food products to customers while maintaining exceptional customer service. The driver position offers a competitive starting base rate of $20.54 per hour during the training period, typically lasting 2 to 8 weeks, followed by component pay based on performance factors like miles driven, cases delivered, and number of stops. This makes the compensation structure motivating and tied to individual productivity and efficiency. Drivers will enjoy a Monday through Friday schedule, starting very early between 3:00 am and 6:00 am, with work continuing until all deliveries are complete. This role emphasizes safety, accuracy, professionalism, and physical fitness due to product handling and driving demands.

The driver’s primary duties include safely operating trucks to make timely deliveries, unloading products with proper equipment, verifying delivery accuracy with customers, handling collections when necessary, and inspecting the vehicle before and after trips. Physical requirements include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull substantial product weights repeatedly and to work in various weather conditions with frequent stops. Drivers must be comfortable reading and communicating in English and have the ability to operate manual transmissions as needed.

This role requires candidates to be at least 21 years old with a valid CDL Class A license and necessary endorsements. Experience requirements include six months of commercial driving or three months in the food or beverage delivery industry. Additionally, new hires must register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, a federal database ensuring compliance with drug and alcohol regulations.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
  • Minimum of six months commercial driving experience or three months commercial driving experience in the food and/or beverage delivery industry
  • Registered to the FMCSA Clearinghouse
  • Ability to read and communicate in the English language
  • Ability to operate manual transmission preferred
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 20 to 80+ lbs repeatedly per shift
  • Comfortable driving and working in inclement weather conditions with frequent stops

Job Duties

  • Safely drive trucks to customers and meet scheduled customer delivery times
  • Carefully unload products from the trailer with a two-wheeler, pallet jack, or by hand and place in designated customer storage areas
  • Verify accuracy of delivery with customers and obtain proper signatures
  • Handle collections and payments from customers when applicable
  • Professionally perform customer service responsibilities to enhance our client experience
  • Perform all pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspection
