Job Description

Sysco is a global leader in the foodservice distribution industry, providing a broad range of fresh, frozen, and packaged foods to restaurants, healthcare, and educational facilities. With a commitment to quality, innovation, and customer service, Sysco operates a vast network of distribution centers and employs thousands of dedicated professionals who ensure food products are delivered efficiently and safely to their customers. Known for its robust supply chain and technology-driven logistics, Sysco provides employees with opportunities for growth and a culture that prioritizes safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement. The company values reliability, professionalism, and a dedication to service excellence that helps maintain its position as an industry leader.

The role offered is that of a Delivery Driver within Sysco's transportation department. This full-time position involves managing daily delivery routes with multiple stops, requiring the driver to load and unload packages accurately and efficiently using hand trucks. Working under a cross-dock model, the driver will pick up loaded trucks from nightly deliveries at designated loading docks and return empty trucks to assigned lots post-route. Beyond driving, the position demands active participation in loading trucks, palletizing products, and occasionally undertaking other duties as assigned by supervisors or management. Physical demands include lifting and moving products weighing between 1 and up to 100 pounds, working in various weather conditions, and navigating stairs or ramps during deliveries.

The role also requires maintaining excellent customer service, managing discrepancies in delivery orders, and ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Drivers must conduct both pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure road safety and proper vehicle maintenance. Effective communication with management and customers is paramount for handling complaints and ensuring accurate reporting and documentation. This position exposes candidates to valuable experience in logistics management, customer relations, and operational procedures within a fast-paced distribution environment. Overall, the job combines physical activity, responsible driving, and interpersonal skills to contribute to Sysco's core mission of delivering high-quality food products efficiently and reliably.
