Job Description

Sysco Corporation is a global leader in foodservice distribution, committed to providing high-quality products and innovative solutions to restaurants, healthcare and educational facilities, and hospitality businesses. With a strong reputation for reliability and customer service, Sysco plays a vital role in the supply chain, making sure food reaches its destination efficiently and safely. The company places a strong emphasis on safety, compliance, and employee development, making it an attractive employer for those seeking a challenging and rewarding career in logistics and transportation.

The role offered here is for a route delivery driver, a hands-on position that involves daily operation of delivery trucks on assigned routes with frequent stops. Drivers are responsible for loading packages onto hand trucks and unloading products at each stop in the sequence determined by the Transportation Department Manager. This position operates within a cross-dock distribution model where the driver picks up a fully loaded truck at a nightly delivery dock and returns the empty truck to a designated lot. This role demands physical endurance, customer service skills, and adherence to safety regulations. Additionally, drivers may occasionally assist in loading trucks, palletizing product, and other duties as assigned by supervisors or managers.

Working as a delivery driver at Sysco means being part of a team that values efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction. The driver must manage time effectively to meet or exceed designated route times. Physical requirements include frequent lifting and moving of products that range from 1 to 75 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 100 pounds. Tasks may involve navigating ramps, stairs, or docks in any weather condition, making this a physically intensive role requiring stamina and care. Drivers are also responsible for verifying deliveries, obtaining customer signatures for package receipt, handling customer complaints professionally, and maintaining clear communication with management about any delivery issues or discrepancies.

Safety is paramount in this role, with drivers expected to follow company equipment handling procedures, perform pre-trip and post-trip truck inspections in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, and complete all duties in alignment with Sysco's safety policies. The role requires a valid Commercial Driver's License (Class B required, Class A preferred), a strong command of English for effective communication and compliance, and prior route delivery experience or relevant truck driving background. The pay rate is $22.00 per hour, reflecting the demands and responsibilities of the position.

This position offers candidates the opportunity to develop and demonstrate strong customer relation skills, problem-solving abilities, and independent work planning while contributing directly to the smooth flow of products within a renowned logistics network. Joining Sysco as a delivery driver means working for a company that prioritizes employee safety, professional growth, and operational excellence, with a supportive environment to achieve these goals.
