We are currently seeking a dedicated and professional Tractor Trailer Driver to join our team. This full-time position involves the safe and efficient transportation of products from our warehouse to various customer locations. The driver will be responsible for operating a tractor trailer, adhering to assigned routes, and ensuring accurate and timely delivery while following all company policies and government regulations. This role requires a proactive individual who is comfortable with manual product handling, including unloading by hand or using equipment like hand carts, and working in all weather conditions. The driver will also be expected to manage paperwork meticulously, including invoices, delivery logs, and vehicle inspection reports, guaranteeing adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. Moreover, maintaining food safety by monitoring temperatures and preventing cross-contamination is pivotal to the job.

In addition to driving and delivery responsibilities, the ideal candidate will develop strong relationships with customers by providing courteous service and clear communication. This includes trouble-shooting route deviations, load or trailer issues, and addressing customer concerns promptly and professionally. Operating assigned equipment such as pallets, load bars, and personal protective equipment safely is necessary. The role also entails performing additional duties as required by management to support warehouse and yard sanitation efforts and meet customer needs effectively.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • minimum 1 year tractor trailer driving experience preferred or completion of tractor trailer driving school
  • valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License
  • ability to read, write and speak English
  • insurable to operate vehicle
  • knowledge of DOT regulations and Hazmat guidelines
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 350 pounds using hand cart
  • ability to work overnight, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • regular and predictable attendance
  • physical ability to climb in and out of tractor and trailer and work in various weather conditions
  • ability to follow safety protocols
  • ability to communicate effectively with management and customers

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent degree
  • experience in tractor trailer driving preferred
  • ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public and understand highway signs and signals
  • valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License
  • insurable to operate company vehicle
  • knowledge of DOT regulations and Hazmat guidelines
  • skill in driving over long distances and varying weather conditions
  • strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • ability to handle hazardous materials and maintain food safety standards
  • proficiency in basic math functions
  • ability to operate straight trucks, onboard computers, and hand carts
  • effective work planning and organization skills
  • ability to solve problems independently

Job Duties

  • Safely transports product from the warehouse to the customer location and ensures product is delivered on a timely basis, according to assigned route
  • unloads product from trailer by hand or using hand cart down ramps, stairs, or docks in all weather conditions and places in designated customer storage areas according to customer specifications and company standards
  • picks up, loads and unloads damaged goods and customer returns, and transports products back to the warehouse
  • ensures all paperwork is completed according to established company and governmental guidelines including DOT logs, inspections, maintenance reports, and delivery invoices
  • ensures all food safety protocols are met including maintaining proper temperatures and preventing cross contamination
  • maintains and safely operates all assigned equipment including hand carts, pallets, and load bars
  • develops and establishes good relationships with customers by providing excellent and courteous service with clear communication
  • communicates with management regarding any deviations to route, trailer or loading issues and/or customer or product issues
  • safely transports product picked up via backhauls and line hauls and ensures picked up product is correct and delivered on time
  • works assigned schedule including overnight, weekends, holidays, overtime, and other duties as assigned by management
