Job Description
Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a prominent leader in the supply of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, along with hardgoods and related products across the United States. As one of the largest suppliers of safety products and ammonia products, Airgas operates with a workforce of approximately 18,000 dedicated associates. The company fosters a culture rooted in safety, sustainability, customer success, and continuous innovation. Being a subsidiary of Air Liquide— a global leader with presence in 60 countries and nearly 66,500 employees— Airgas benefits from the combined strength and expertise of this multinational entity, serving over 4 million customers and patients worldwide.
At Airgas, diversity, respect, and inclusion are core values, reflected in how the company embraces the unique perspectives of its employees, customers, and community stakeholders. This commitment cultivates a workplace where everyone’s contributions are valued, helping to create an innovative and engaging environment. The company actively supports an inclusive culture that encourages employee growth and development through various comprehensive benefits and supportive policies.
The role of a CDL B Driver based in Charleston, SC is vital to Airgas's operational success. This local delivery driver position requires a professional to safely and efficiently deliver compressed gas cylinders from Airgas branch or plant locations to local and regional business customers. The role is physically active and hands-on, involving loading and unloading heavy gas cylinders, securing cargo safely, and frequently interacting with customers to provide excellent service. Deliveries may often require moving cylinders on site using a hand cart and involve moving in and out of the vehicle regularly throughout the day.
This role offers a consistent Monday to Friday work schedule with occasional weekend support, making it appealing for candidates seeking predictable routines. Airgas supports its employees through a comprehensive family benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance alongside parental leave policies with up to 14 weeks of paid childbirth benefits. In addition, employees have access to a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, tuition assistance programs, and paid time off encompassing holidays, vacation, and sick leave. Employees can start benefiting from their health and welfare plans shortly after just 30 days of employment.
As a CDL B Driver at Airgas, candidates will be expected to perform vehicle inspections, ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods, and maintain courteous professional relationships with customers. This role requires individuals to have a valid Class A or B CDL with HAZMAT and Airbrake endorsements or the capacity to obtain them within 60 days of employment. A minimum of one year CDL driving experience within the last five years or recent completion of a trucking school program is necessary to qualify.
Airgas is deeply invested in the safety and wellbeing of its team. CDL drivers must maintain compliance with company policies about driver eligibility and be able to consistently lift heavy materials using appropriate equipment. Forklift experience is considered an asset but not mandatory. Joining Airgas means becoming part of a supportive environment where your safety, career advancement, and personal growth matter significantly.
