Job Description
Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a premier U.S. supplier of industrial, medical, and specialty gases alongside hardgoods and related products. As one of the largest U.S suppliers of safety products, ammonia products, and process chemicals, Airgas operates through a rich network driven by 18,000 associates who thrive within a culture centered on safety, customer success, innovation, and sustainability. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide — a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare — Airgas benefits from a vast presence in 60 countries with roughly 66,500 employees serving over 4 million customers and patients. This extensive reach highlights Airgas's commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions while fostering an inclusive and empowering workplace.
At Airgas, diversity is not just recognized but deeply respected, honored, and valued as a fundamental strength that spurs innovation. The company enforces a strong dedication to creating a workplace where employees from all backgrounds feel welcomed and appreciated, encouraging unique perspectives and talents that enrich the organization. This forward-thinking approach makes Airgas an outstanding place to grow a meaningful career.
The position of CDL B Driver based in Atlanta, GA involves serving as a critical representative of the Airgas brand by facilitating the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers. The role covers operating a company-provided CDL B vehicle from an Airgas branch or plant location and encompasses loading, unloading, and returning compressed gas cylinders while maintaining frequent customer engagement. This position offers a predictable Monday to Friday schedule, with weekend support as needed, supporting employees with consistency and routine.
The driver handles critical logistical tasks such as performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, loading and unloading gas cylinders and supplies, and safely securing delivered cylinders. A typical day requires an active, hands-on approach, including moving frequently on and off the vehicle and operating hand carts to complete deliveries on customer properties. Commitment to safety is paramount, as the role demands strict adherence to designated protocols and courteous communication with customers.
Beyond operational duties, Airgas is committed to supporting drivers through comprehensive benefits starting after just 30 days of employment. These benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, accident and disability coverage, parental leave with up to 14 weeks paid childbirth benefits, 401(k) retirement plans with company match, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time. Additionally, Airgas fosters professional growth and encourages employees to share ideas and make decisions, offering a supportive environment to advance their career trajectories.
The role requires a valid Class A or B CDL with Hazmat and Airbrake endorsements, with Hazmat certification being mandatory. Candidates must exhibit a clean driving record with no disqualifying traffic convictions or at-fault accidents, the ability to work in a drug-free environment, and meet physical demands including lifting heavy weights routinely. Preferred qualifications such as forklift experience can enhance a candidate's profile.
At Airgas, employees become an essential part of a diverse community that values their differences and empowers them to grow. The company actively ensures equal employment opportunities with an emphasis on accessibility and inclusion across all service areas. Joining Airgas as a CDL B Driver means contributing to a company recognized for its leadership in the gas and safety product industry, excellent support system, and dynamic culture that thrives on safety and customer success.
