The Local CDL B Driver - Inside Sales role located in Longview, TX, offers an exciting opportunity to be both the face of Airgas and a vital part of its hybrid business model, combining frontline customer service with essential delivery operations. As a driver based out of a retail shop, this role demands professionalism both in customer interaction and in safely delivering critical products. Beginning at $26 per hour, with eligibility for quarterly bonuses and a referral bonus, this position promises competitive compensation alongside a comprehensive family benefits package. As a Local CDL B Driver - Inside Sales, you will navigate a multifaceted role that goes well beyond transportation. Your primary responsibility will be engaging with customers both in-person and over the phone, utilizing your expertise to recommend and guide them toward the most suitable products. This inside sales function encourages you to build lasting relationships, drive business growth by evaluating customer needs, providing quotes, and crafting solutions that match those needs. Your Class B CDL is an essential asset, as you will serve as a reliable backup driver, stepping in to deliver welding products and gases when the regular driver is unavailable. The role requires physical stamina and capability to manage hazardous cargo, including lifting weights between 25 and 125+ pounds with mechanical assistance, and spending significant time driving, standing, walking, and bending during workdays. A background check for a clean motor vehicle record is mandatory, alongside endorsements like Hazmat or the ability to obtain one.

Job Requirements

  • At least one full year of Class A or B CDL driving experience verifiable under DOT requirements in the past 5 years or recent graduate from accredited driving school
  • Class A or B CDL with Hazmat endorsement or ability to obtain Hazmat upon contingency of offer
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • Physical capability and stamina for handling hazardous cargo including lifting 25-75 lbs and up to 125+ lbs with material handling equipment
  • Frequent bending, walking, standing, and driving for up to 8 hours a day
  • Familiarity or ability to quickly learn sales platforms or CRM systems for order entry

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year of verifiable Class A or B CDL driving experience within the past five years or recent graduate from accredited driving school
  • Class A or B CDL with Hazmat endorsement or ability to obtain one
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a proactive attitude preferred
  • Ability to quickly learn sales platforms like SAP or CRM systems
  • Physical capability to handle routine lifting of 25-75 lbs and up to 125+ lbs with equipment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and drive for up to 8 hours daily

Job Duties

  • Build relationships as the first point of contact for customers in store and by phone
  • Drive growth by engaging in inside sales, assessing customer needs, providing quotes, and problem-solving
  • Ensure smooth store operations including organizing merchandise and processing sales
  • Act as a reliable backup driver using Class B CDL to deliver gases and welding products
  • Maintain safety and compliance standards when handling hazardous materials
  • Assist customers with product knowledge and order entry using sales platforms
  • Participate in on-call rotations for weekend availability when needed
