Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a prominent supplier in the United States of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, as well as hardgoods and related safety products. Known for being one of the largest suppliers of these materials, Airgas operates with a commitment to delivering quality products efficiently and safely while fostering a workplace culture that respects diversity and inclusion. With a workforce of about 18,000 associates, Airgas emphasizes safety, customer success, and innovation, empowering employees to take initiative, share ideas, and contribute to the company's growth and sustainability. As a subsidiary of the global leader Air Liquide, which operates in 60 countries with approximately 66,500 employees, Airgas serves over 4 million customers and patients, maintaining its reputation through advanced technology and service excellence. Located in West Palm Beach, FL, Airgas offers a stimulating and supportive work environment where employees can thrive and build fulfilling careers while contributing to the sustainable production and safe delivery of gases and related products.
The Production Operator / CDL B Driver role at Airgas entails a variety of responsibilities centered around cylinder requalification, filling, repair, and delivery. This is a home-daily position with a reliable Monday through Friday work schedule beginning at 6 am, offering a balanced 40-45 hour workweek with occasional weekend support. The position provides a great opportunity for individuals seeking work-life harmony, with comprehensive family benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance, as well as support for new parents with up to 14 weeks of paid childbirth benefits. The role is physically active and involves the use of material handling equipment such as forklifts. Operators assist in moving industrial gas cylinders to various plant areas, loading and unloading these cylinders from delivery trucks, and delivering compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers using company vehicles such as tractor trailers, microbulk trucks, and CDL B trucks. The fleet is modern, equipped with advanced safety and driver-supportive technology including on-board computers, collision avoidance systems, cameras, and GPS navigation.
Key duties include conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, working with forklifts, safely loading and unloading cylinders, securing cylinders for transport, and delivering cylinders on customer sites often requiring the use of a hand cart. This role demands physical endurance, as drivers frequently exit their vehicles and stay active throughout the day. Airgas prioritizes fostering courteous and professional relationships with their customers and ensuring timely deliveries, making this an essential role in the company's operational success and customer satisfaction.
