Job Description
The hiring establishment is a well-established company specializing in transportation and delivery services, operating in a dynamic cross-dock model to ensure efficient movement of goods. The company prioritizes safety, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence, supporting a team environment where each employee plays a critical role in delivering high-quality service. They focus on timely and accurate deliveries, maintaining strong customer relationships, and adhering to regulations and company policies to foster reliability and trust in their logistics operations.
This role is for a Route Delivery Driver responsible for running daily delivery routes with multiple stops. The candidate will be required to load and unload packages using hand trucks or by hand, organizing deliveries to meet designated route schedules as assigned by the Transportation Department Manager. Operating within a cross-docking environment, the driver will pick up loaded trucks from nightly deliveries at designated docks and ensure that empty trucks are returned to the assigned parking lot after completing routes. Additionally, the role involves occasional assistance with loading trucks, palletizing products, and performing other tasks as assigned by supervisors or managers.
The position demands a hands-on and physically active approach, as daily operations involve frequent lifting, bending, twisting, and transporting products weighing between 1 to 75 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds. Drivers are expected to perform their duties safely in all weather conditions and maintain work efficiency to meet or exceed company route completion goals. The role emphasizes customer interaction by verifying deliveries, obtaining signatures, addressing discrepancies, managing customer complaints professionally, and maintaining ongoing communication with management.
Strict adherence to safety protocols is paramount, including handling company equipment correctly and conducting detailed pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and internal company policies. Candidates must be proficient in operating trucks under varying traffic and weather conditions while demonstrating strong organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and customer relations expertise. This role offers an essential contribution to the company’s distribution logistics, demanding reliability, dedication, and professionalism in every delivery task. Employment is full-time, emphasizing consistent work attendance, physical stamina, and a commitment to maintaining high standards for operational safety and customer service throughout the delivery process.
