The Food and Food Service Delivery Driver role at Performance Foodservice is integral to the nation’s food supply chain. This position involves the delivery of food and related products using tractor trailers or straight trucks, operating on intrastate and interstate routes including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive and drop schedules. The driver ensures timely, safe, and accurate delivery of products while upholding Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies. Serving as the company’s representative to customers, the driver builds lasting professional relationships and provides exceptional service. The role operates on a Tuesday through Saturday schedule with dispatch hours between 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM, offering a competitive earning potential starting at $80,000 with a daily minimum pay guarantee of $309.14.

Job Requirements

  • 12 months commercial driving experience
  • high school diploma or GED or state approved equivalent
  • valid CDL B
  • meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • must be 21 years of age
  • clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • pass road test
  • valid current DOT health card or able to secure new DOT health card
  • able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and other equipment to move and stack product cases of varying size and weight

Job Qualifications

  • 12 months commercial driving experience

Job Duties

  • perform all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor, truck, and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • report all safety issues and needed repairs
  • follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices
  • complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
  • move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
  • drive to and deliver customer orders according to route schedule
  • unload products and transport items to designated storage areas
  • perform damage control checks on items and contact supervisor as needed
  • verify delivery with customer and obtain signatures
  • collect money when required
  • load customer returns and secure trailer doors
  • ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and secured
  • unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete paperwork
  • perform housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area
  • complete daily record of hours of service and log according to DOT, state, and company requirements
  • secure all equipment and complete paperwork at the end of shift
  • perform other related duties as assigned
