Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a leading broadline distributor operating under Performance Food Group (PFG), is recognized for its dedicated service to a diverse clientele that includes independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. This dynamic distributor is not just a food supplier but also a partner in success for local businesses. With a comprehensive team consisting of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts, Performance Foodservice goes beyond traditional distribution by offering valuable guidance on operational improvement, menu development, product selection, and strategic planning. This collaborative approach enables independent restaurant owners and other foodservice operators to optimize their businesses, ensuring they meet their goals and serve quality food to their customers consistently. At Performance Foodservice, the commitment is to deliver not just food products but also the expertise and support crucial for the success of every customer in its network.
The available position is for a CDL-B Driver, an essential role within the company’s operations. This role centers on ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of food and food-related products to customers across various locations. CDL-B Drivers are crucial players in America's food supply chain, serving as the face of the company and fostering strong, lasting relationships with customers through excellent service and professionalism. The driver operates tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local deliveries, over-the-road (OTR) drives, shuttles, and overnight runs. Responsibilities extend beyond driving to include pre- and post-trip safety inspections, accurate paperwork handling, freight loading and unloading, and adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The role demands attention to detail, operational efficiency, and a proactive approach to safety and customer service.
CDL-B Drivers at Performance Foodservice can expect a competitive compensation package, with pay structures based on cases delivered, miles traveled, stops made, and dispatch fees complemented by a progressive daily minimum wage. The average annual salary ranges from $75,000 to $85,000, reflecting the valued contribution of these professionals. Additional benefits include health and wellness coverage starting on day one, employee stock purchase plans, employer-matched 401K retirement plans, education assistance, paid time off, and opportunities for career growth within a safe and inclusive work environment. Employees are recognized and rewarded, fostering a culture of respect and mutual support.
This full-time role operates primarily Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts as required, providing a stable yet dynamic work schedule. The CDL-B Driver must be over 21 years old, hold a valid CDL-B license, and meet all relevant state licensing and certification requirements. The position also entails passing a series of regulatory checks, including drug testing, background screening, road tests, and maintaining a clean driving record. Physical demands are present, requiring the driver to handle product cases weighing up to approximately 90 pounds and to effectively use equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates for moving freight.
Working at Performance Foodservice means joining a company that values diversity and inclusive employment practices. The company provides equal opportunity employment and adheres to fair labor standards, ensuring a supportive atmosphere for all employees. Joining this team not only means contributing to a vital supply chain but also becoming part of a community dedicated to helping businesses and individuals thrive in the foodservice industry.
