The CDL-B Driver position with Performance Food Group plays a vital role in maintaining America's food supply chain by ensuring timely, safe, and accurate delivery of food and related products to customers. The role involves driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local runs, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive and drop routes. The CDL-B Driver is the company's frontline ambassador, responsible for professional interactions with customers, vendors, and coworkers, representing the organization with integrity and promoting strong customer relationships. Drivers must conduct thorough safety inspections of their vehicles, comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and complete all necessary paperwork related to freight handling accurately and legibly. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- 12+ months CDL driving experience
- Valid CDL-B license
- Must be 21+ years of age
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test
- Pass criminal background check in post offer process
- Pass road test
- Valid current DOT health card and/or able to secure new DOT health card
- Able to hand-lift and use two-wheeler, lift gate or other equipment to move and stack product cases of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift
- Product weights generally range from 10-35 pounds and can be up to 60-90 pounds depending on location
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- 12+ months CDL driving experience
- Valid CDL-B license
- Must be 21+ years of age
- Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
- Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test
- Pass criminal background check during post offer process
- Pass road test
- Valid current DOT health card or ability to secure one
- Ability to hand-lift and use equipment to move product cases weighing between 10 and 90 pounds throughout shift
Job Duties
- Perform pre and post trip safety checks including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
- Report all safety issues and repairs required
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices
- Complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
- Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- Drive and deliver customer orders according to predetermined routes and schedules
- Unload products and transport items into designated customer storage areas
- Perform damage control checks on items and contact supervisor for removing orders according to company policy
- Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
- Collect money where required
- Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
- Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
- Unload equipment and remove trash from trailers
- Complete daily hours of service logs in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock areas
- Secure all equipment and complete paperwork at end of shift
- Perform other related duties as assigned
