Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline foodservice distributor that maintains a unique and trusted relationship with a wide array of local customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a dedicated team composed of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts, Performance Foodservice goes beyond just delivering food; it offers valuable advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and operational strategies that help independent restaurant owners and other clients improve the quality and service of their businesses. As a key player in America’s food supply chain, Performance Foodservice is committed to innovation, superior service, and building lasting customer relationships.
This employment opportunity is for a Delivery Driver position that offers a competitive compensation package starting at $22 per hour during training and transitioning to an annual salary in the range of $65,000 to $75,000 after training completion. The job is local with daily return home and involves day shift hours, making it an attractive option for individuals seeking stability and routine.
The Delivery Driver holds a critical role within the company and the food service industry as a whole. The driver is essential in ensuring that food and food-related products are delivered safely, on time, and in excellent condition to the customers. Delivery drivers serve as the face of the company, interacting directly with customers and building lasting relationships through professional communication and reliable service. Their responsibility includes driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight routes.
Safety is paramount in this role. The driver is required to perform all mandated safety checks such as pre- and post-trip inspections of equipment and trailers, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company standards. The driver must identify and report any safety issues or repairs promptly. In addition to safe driving, duties include inspecting trailers for properly loaded and secured freight, performing count checks of items, preparing and completing freight paperwork with accuracy, and maneuvering tractors to loading docks.
Upon delivering, the driver unloads shipments, transports items into designated storage areas, verifies orders with customers, collects payments when necessary, and handles product returns securely. Drivers are responsible for damage control procedures, documentation, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of their equipment and work areas. They are expected to keep accurate driving logs according to federal and state DOT regulations and complete all end-of-shift reports.
Performance Foodservice supports its drivers by offering a safe, inclusive working environment focused on respect and rewarding hard work. Benefits include day-one health and wellness coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. The company also provides substantial growth opportunities for employees committed to supporting America’s vital food distribution system, making this position attractive for candidates aiming for a stable career with a respected industry leader.
