Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a leading broadline distributor under the Performance Food Group umbrella, plays a vital role in the foodservice industry by supporting a diverse range of local customers. These customers include independent restaurants and hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company prides itself on fostering strong and lasting relationships with its clients through a dedicated team that comprises sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts. This team not only delivers quality food products but also provides valuable advice on operational improvements, menu development, product selection, and strategic growth. The company’s commitment to helping independent restaurant owners achieve success goes beyond mere delivery – it’s an inclusive approach to partnership and service excellence.
The Delivery Driver position at Performance Foodservice is a critical component of the company’s supply chain operations. Offering competitive pay starting at $22 per hour during training and moving to an annual salary range of $65,000 to $75,000 after training, this role provides a rewarding career path with excellent growth opportunities. Drivers operate locally with home daily schedules on day shifts, ensuring consistent work-life balance. The company also offers comprehensive benefits from day one, including health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off.
As a food and foodservice delivery driver, you are entrusted with the responsibility of transporting food products and related items safely and punctually to various customers while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and service. Drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes including intrastate, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes. Ensuring compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies is essential to this role.
In addition to transportation duties, drivers act as the face of Performance Foodservice, building lasting relationships and ensuring customers receive exceptional service. Responsibilities include performing safety checks pre- and post-trip, inspecting equipment, securing freight, completing paperwork accurately, unloading deliveries, verifying orders with customers, handling cash or checks where applicable, and managing product returns. Drivers are also responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in trailers and loading docks and must adhere to all safety guidelines at all times.
This role demands physical stamina and the ability to handle freight cases varying in weight from 10 to over 90 pounds depending on the delivery location. The ideal candidate will have a valid CDL-B, a clean driving record, and the ability to pass all required tests and background checks. Performance Foodservice is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and rewarding work environment where you can advance your career while contributing to the essential business of food distribution in America. Joining this team means becoming part of a company that values safety, respect, and recognition, while supporting your personal and professional growth extensively.
