Job Description

Vistar is America's leading distributor specializing in candy, snacks, and beverages, with a robust network of more than 25 distribution centers strategically located across the United States. The company prides itself on its innovative spirit, commitment to exceeding customer expectations, and a culture that promotes teamwork, integrity, and community engagement. Vistar's extensive reach ensures that its products are available everywhere people work, play, and shop, ranging from popular popcorn brands to healthy meal replacements. The organization has established itself as a trusted partner in the food distribution industry by consistently delivering quality service and fostering a collaborative work environment that values diversity, inclusion, and ethical business practices.

The role of a CDL-B Driver at Vistar is pivotal to maintaining the company's reputation as a reliable and efficient food service provider. These drivers are essential figures in the country’s food supply chain, responsible not only for the timely and safe delivery of products but also for representing the company’s values to customers. The CDL-B Driver operates tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes, including intrastate, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive-and-drop operations. Their primary duty is ensuring that food and related products reach customers in excellent condition and according to a predetermined schedule, all while adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.

This full-time position offers competitive pay and an attractive benefits package from day one, including health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, among others. Working as a CDL-B Driver at Vistar provides growth opportunities within an essential industry that supports America's food distribution system. The company emphasizes a safe and inclusive working environment where employees receive recognition, rewards, and respect for their contributions.

In this role, drivers are expected to perform comprehensive safety checks and vehicle inspections before and after trips, ensuring that all equipment meets stringent safety standards. They must accurately handle paperwork related to freight and deliveries, manage the loading and unloading of goods—including damaged items and customer returns—and maintain detailed records compliant with federal and state regulations. Communication skills are vital, as drivers interact professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers to resolve inquiries and ensure a positive delivery experience. The role demands physical capability to handle diverse freight weights and the use of handling equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates.

Vistar is dedicated to equal employment opportunities and upholds policies that protect employees and applicants from discrimination based on various characteristics including race, gender, age, religion, disability, and veteran status. This commitment reinforces the company’s ethos of fairness, respect, and community responsibility, making Vistar not only a leader in its market but also a desirable employer for those seeking meaningful work in the logistics and distribution sector.
