The Driver, Hourly CDL-B role at Vistar is a critical position within the company's food supply chain. These drivers are fundamental in ensuring that food and food service products reach customers on schedule and in excellent condition, serving as the face of Vistar during deliveries. This position requires operating a tractor trailer or straight truck across intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight schedules. Responsibilities include making deliveries, unloading goods, and adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to maintain safety and compliance. Candidates must possess a valid CDL-B license, meet the age and health requirements, and demonstrate the ability to handle varying weights of freight generally ranging from 10 to 90 pounds. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid CDL-B license
- Minimum age of 21 years
- Meet state licensing and certification requirements
- Clean motor vehicle report for past three years
- Pass drug testing and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Current or able to obtain DOT Health Card
- Ability to lift between 10 and 90 pounds using equipment such as two-wheeler and lift gate
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- Valid CDL-B license
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attain or have a valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Ability to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
Job Duties
- Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of loaded products
- Check and complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
- Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- Unload products from trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
- Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders
- Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
- Collect money where required
- Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
- Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
- Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean
- Secure all equipment and complete necessary paperwork at end of shift
- Perform other related duties as assigned
