The Driver, Hourly CDL-B role at Vistar is a critical position within the company's food supply chain. These drivers are fundamental in ensuring that food and food service products reach customers on schedule and in excellent condition, serving as the face of Vistar during deliveries. This position requires operating a tractor trailer or straight truck across intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight schedules. Responsibilities include making deliveries, unloading goods, and adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to maintain safety and compliance. Drivers must also engage professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers to answer questions accurately and maintain positive relationships, thereby supporting the company’s commitment to exceptional service.

This full-time role offers an average departure time between 3am and 5am from Monday to Friday, emphasizing the importance of punctuality and reliability. Drivers perform various tasks such as pre- and post-trip safety inspections, verifying freight counts, managing paperwork, securing trailers, unloading and loading returns, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in both vehicles and distribution areas. Candidates must possess a valid CDL-B license, meet the age and health requirements, and demonstrate the ability to handle varying weights of freight generally ranging from 10 to 90 pounds. Adherence to federal, state, and company safety and operational standards is mandatory.
