Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a member of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline foodservice distributor known for its deep and unique relationships with a diverse range of customers. These customers include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company prides itself on not just delivering a wide variety of high-quality food products but also on offering comprehensive support through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other specialists. This team works closely with clients to provide expert advice on operations, menu development, product selection, and overall business strategies. Performance Foodservice aims to empower independent restaurant owners and foodservice operators to achieve success and growth by combining excellent products with valuable industry insights.
The role of the Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is integral to the food supply chain, ensuring that food and food service products arrive safely, timely, and in excellent condition to various customers. This position requires a CDL B license with airbrakes endorsement and demands drivers who are reliable, safety-conscious, and customer-focused. Drivers typically work early morning shifts from Tuesday through Saturday, averaging more than 12 hours, with varying end times depending on delivery routes. Drivers are responsible not only for the physical delivery of products but also for representing the company professionally, building lasting relationships with customers with every delivery. This helps the company maintain its reputation for reliability and exceptional customer service.
The Delivery Driver's responsibilities are extensive, including performing mandatory pre- and post-trip safety inspections of their vehicles, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and ensuring all freight is loaded securely and delivered according to schedule. They must accurately document deliveries and pickups, including obtaining proper signatures and handling customer payments when required. The job also involves loading and unloading customer returns, securing vehicles and freight, performing damage control checks, and maintaining cleanliness and safety of the truck and loading dock areas. Drivers must be capable of handling and moving products ranging from 10 to 90 pounds with equipment like hand trucks and lift gates.
Performance Foodservice offers a competitive wage of $22 per hour along with a robust benefits package that starts from day one, including health and wellness benefits, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. The company fosters a safe, inclusive, and respectful work environment that recognizes and rewards employees' contributions. There are also ample growth opportunities for those who perform essential work supporting America's food distribution system, making this an excellent opportunity for drivers looking to advance their careers.
