The company prides itself on fostering a culture of inclusivity, rewards, recognition, and respect, making it a respected employer within the food distribution sector.
The company offers competitive pay starting at $22 per hour during training, with the potential to earn between $65,000 and $75,000 annually upon completion of training. Employees are also eligible for a comprehensive benefits package that includes health and wellness benefits from day one, an employee stock purchase plan, 401(k) employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and many other perks. The working environment supports growth opportunities and the critical work of ensuring America’s food distribution system runs efficiently and reliably.
The Food and Food Service Delivery Driver position at Performance Foodservice plays a vital role in the country’s food logistics network. Drivers are responsible not only for delivering food and related products safely and on schedule but also for maintaining strong, positive relationships with the company’s customers, effectively serving as the face of Performance Foodservice. This is a local delivery role with home-daily shifts primarily on day schedules, enhancing work-life balance for drivers.
The role requires driving tractor trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight routes. Drivers perform essential safety inspections to comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies, ensuring all equipment and freight are secure and meet safety standards. In addition to transportation duties, drivers undertake loading and unloading tasks, verifying delivery accuracy, handling customer payments where necessary, and managing paperwork efficiently and accurately. Professional communication with customers, vendors, and colleagues is expected to ensure excellent service and timely responses to inquiries.
Drivers must also conduct routine housekeeping duties, including maintaining vehicle cleanliness and keeping the loading dock and trailers organized. Safety is a top priority, requiring immediate reporting of any hazards or maintenance needs. The company promotes a safe, inclusive workplace and encourages teamwork among all employees. Overall, this position offers a stable and rewarding career path for individuals who are committed to supporting a critical aspect of America’s food service infrastructure and who value responsibility, reliability, and customer service excellence.
