Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a subsidiary of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline food distributor that serves a diverse customer base including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a strong commitment to quality and customer service, Performance Foodservice is more than just a food provider. The company employs a comprehensive team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts who cultivate close relationships with clients. This team assists customers by offering valuable advice on operational improvements, menu development, product selection, and strategies to optimize business performance. Performance Foodservice aims to not only deliver fresh and appealing food products but also to empower independent restaurant owners to fulfill their business ambitions and enhance their operational success.
As a vital component of America's food supply chain, Performance Foodservice focuses on safe, efficient, and reliable foodservice delivery. This commitment is demonstrated through a positive work environment that supports safety, inclusivity, and professional growth. Employee benefits include day-one health and wellness coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K retirement plans with employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off—all designed to support the well-being and development of their workforce.
The available position is for a Delivery Driver who plays an essential role in the transportation and delivery of food products to various local customers. This role involves driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local runs, over-the-road trips, shuttle operations, and overnight or drive-and-drop assignments. The Delivery Driver ensures that products reach their destinations on time and in pristine condition, upholding Performance Foodservice's reputation for dependability and customer service excellence.
Driving safely according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations is a core aspect of the role, along with performing mandatory vehicle safety inspections and maintaining compliance with all safety standards. The Delivery Driver also interacts directly with customers, vendors, and coworkers, representing the company with professionalism and building strong, trusting relationships. Responsibilities include verifying loaded products against customer invoices, accurately completing required paperwork, unloading and properly storing deliveries, managing damaged goods or customer returns, and collecting payments when necessary.
This position offers competitive pay starting at $22 per hour during training, with the potential to earn between $65,000 and $75,000 annually after training completion. The work schedule involves day shifts with routes that are local, allowing the driver to return home daily. This setup provides an excellent balance between work and personal life.
Joining Performance Foodservice as a Delivery Driver means becoming part of a team that values safety, inclusivity, and career growth. The company fosters a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect where employees are encouraged to develop their skills and advance within the organization. If you are a dependable driver who is passionate about playing a crucial role in sustaining America’s food systems, this position offers a rewarding career path with ample opportunities for growth and a supportive working environment.
