Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a leading broadline distributor under Performance Food Group (PFG), is committed to serving diverse local customers ranging from independent restaurants and hotels to healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company stands out by nurturing close relationships through its dedicated team comprising sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts who offer valuable advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and operational strategies. This approach ensures that clients not only receive high-quality foodservice products but also gain expert guidance to enhance their business success. Performance Foodservice is dedicated to supporting the dreams and ambitions of independent restaurant owners by delivering excellent service and innovative solutions in the food distribution industry.
The Class B Delivery Driver role is a pivotal position within Performance Foodservice, emphasizing the importance of reliable transportation in the food supply chain. This position offers an exciting opportunity for drivers with a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B to contribute directly to timely and safe deliveries that keep customers' businesses running smoothly. The role is based in Rogers, MN, with early morning dispatch times, typically starting between midnight and 5 AM, reflecting the nature of the foodservice industry where early deliveries are critical. Employees in this position begin with a competitive hourly rate during a training period and transition to component pay afterward, highlighting the company’s commitment to rewarding efficiency and dedication.
This job entails a five-day workweek within Monday through Saturday, generally involving 10 to 12-hour workdays. Performance Foodservice values its drivers by offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus (terms apply), which incentivizes skilled drivers to join the team. Beyond the financial incentives, drivers engage in meaningful work supporting America’s food distribution system while enjoying a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture. The company promotes employee growth, recognizing the essential role delivery drivers play in the supply chain, from food transportation to frontline customer interaction.
The Class B Delivery Driver is responsible not only for transporting food products but also for maintaining excellent customer relationships as the company’s representatives on the road. Duties include pre- and post-trip vehicle and trailer inspections, safety compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, accurate product delivery and documentation, and professional interaction with customers to ensure satisfaction and prompt issue resolution. Drivers load and unload products, verify deliveries with signatures, handle cash or check payments as needed, and maintain secure and clean equipment and trailers. This role demands physical readiness to handle the lifting and moving of product cases weighing between 10 to 90 pounds and the ability to use tools such as lift gates and two-wheelers.
Performance Foodservice emphasizes safety, professionalism, and teamwork in this position. Drivers are expected to complete all required safety and operational procedures, report any safety or repair concerns, and contribute to a collaborative work environment that values rewards and recognition. This is a career opportunity for motivated individuals seeking stable employment with benefits starting from day one, including health and wellness programs, employee stock purchase options, 401K matching, education assistance, and paid time off. The company’s equal employment opportunity policy ensures a fair, unbiased hiring process that welcomes candidates from diverse backgrounds, fostering a workplace focused on respect, inclusivity, and growth.
