Job Description
JBS Carriers is a prominent multi-state and regional truckload carrier specializing in both refrigerated and non-refrigerated freight transport. With extensive expertise in hauling live livestock such as cattle, hogs, and poultry, JBS Carriers also manages tankers, container chassis, and grain hoppers, making it a versatile carrier in the transportation industry. As a well-established company, JBS Carriers is known for its commitment to reliability, safety, and professionalism in freight delivery.
The company prides itself on offering competitive truck driving opportunities that come with the benefit of daily home time, making it an attractive choice for drivers who value work-life balance. Their specialization in live haul transport requires drivers to not only be skilled in freight handling but also to ensure the humane and safe treatment of livestock throughout their route.
JBS Carriers currently seeks qualified CDL A drivers for local and short-haul runs. The positions available include shuttle services and regional runs that return drivers home daily, emphasizing family time and rest. The company provides a thorough but streamlined orientation program that begins online and concludes at local terminals, helping new drivers transition smoothly into their roles.
Drivers employed at JBS Carriers can expect competitive earnings, with annual pay ranging from $75,000 to $92,000. Pay is structured on a per-load basis, averaging $1,500 weekly, and drivers are compensated for wait times during loading and unloading. Additionally, orientation pay is provided, ensuring drivers are supported from the start.
The role of a CDL A driver at JBS Carriers involves not just routine driving tasks but also coordinating logistics with plants, dispatch centers, and feed lots. This coordination is crucial to maintaining on-time deliveries and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Drivers must demonstrate responsibility and attention to detail, especially when managing live animal loads, as the welfare of the livestock is a critical part of the job.
Beyond base pay, JBS Carriers offers substantial benefits and bonuses. New hires are eligible for a $5,000 retention bonus, signifying the company's investment in long-term employee satisfaction. Health benefits commence after 60 days and include medical, vision, and dental coverage. The company also provides paid sick leave and observes six paid holidays annually. For retirement planning, there is a 401(k) plan with up to a 50% match on the first 4% of contributions, starting after one year of service and vested over five years.
Additional perks include a rider policy after three months (excluding pets), monthly safety bonuses rewarding diligent driving, and up to $3,100 in bonuses for referring new drivers to the company. The work schedule typically runs Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays. Start times are early mornings between 2 to 6 AM, and shifts can extend until 3 PM or later depending on route requirements.
In summary, JBS Carriers offers a solid career path for CDL A drivers prioritizing safety, steady income, daily home time, and comprehensive benefits. This role is ideal for drivers seeking a reliable employer in the specialized freight transport sector, especially those who appreciate the importance of humane livestock handling and efficient freight coordination. With supportive training programs and a strong emphasis on worker retention, JBS Carriers is dedicated to helping its drivers succeed and thrive in their careers.
