Job Description

US Foods is one of the largest foodservice distributors in the United States, known for its robust culture of promoting from within, comprehensive training programs, and continuous improvement philosophy. The company serves a vast network of customers, including restaurants, healthcare facilities, and hospitality businesses, providing them with quality food products and exceptional service. US Foods is committed to fostering a positive work environment that encourages employee growth and values the essential role of its workforce in its ongoing success. The company offers competitive compensation packages, abundant opportunities for career advancement, and a strong safety culture, which collectively create a rewarding work experience for its associates.

The role of a US Foods CDL-A Driver is pivotal to the company’s operations. This position is a full-time opportunity designed for individuals who are ready to embark on a career in the foodservice delivery industry, leveraging their commercial driving skills to support US Foods' mission of delivering quality products reliably. Drivers enjoy a competitive salary range with earnings up to $130,000 in their first year, complemented by a $15,000 retention bonus for eligible new hires. The schedule typically runs Monday through Saturday with two days off, although Saturday work is required. Dispatch times occur early in the morning between midnight and 5 AM.

Drivers at US Foods are entrusted with safely operating trucks to deliver food products to customers, ensuring that all deliveries are completed on schedule and according to the company’s high standards. They are responsible for unloading deliveries using equipment such as two-wheelers and pallet jacks, verifying order accuracy with customers, obtaining necessary signatures, and managing customer payments when applicable. Exceptional customer service skills are essential as drivers enhance the client experience through their professionalism and attention to quality. The role also requires performing thorough pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections to maintain vehicle safety and reliability.

In addition to the core driving tasks, the physical demands of the job call for the ability to lift and carry between 20 to 80 pounds repetitively during shifts, work in varied weather conditions, and make frequent stops. Candidates must be registered with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, hold a valid CDL Class A license with the necessary endorsements, and adhere to Department of Transportation regulations. A demonstrated minimum of six months commercial driving experience in any industry or three months in food or beverage delivery is required. Proficiency in English is also necessary for effective communication and safety compliance.

US Foods prioritizes creating a positive environment for its drivers, offering benefits from day one, including medical, dental, vision, 401K, life insurance, and more. Drivers are recognized as key representatives of the organization, promoting trust and integrity both on and off the road. US Foods’ culture is based on values that foster teamwork, accountability, and excellent service. The company’s commitment to total rewards ensures that dedicated associates are fairly compensated and supported throughout their careers, making this an outstanding opportunity for professional growth in the foodservice distribution sector.
