The role of a US Foods Delivery Driver is integral to the company’s success in delivering food products safely and efficiently to its broad range of customers, including restaurants, healthcare facilities, and hospitality venues. This position offers a starting wage of $31.19 per hour, increasing to $36.71 per hour upon completion of training and sustained independent delivery of full routes. Top drivers have the potential to earn up to $130,000 annually, supported by a $15,000 retention bonus for eligible new hires, enhancing the appeal of this career path. Drivers enjoy a schedule from Monday through Saturday, with potential flexibility for a 4- or 5-day workweek based on business needs, and always return home nightly. Shifts typically begin early in the morning between 3:00 AM and 7:00 AM, lasting until the route is completed.

This role emphasizes safety and customer service, requiring drivers to operate trucks responsibly, ensure timely deliveries, unload and handle products carefully, and maintain excellent communication with customers. Drivers perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on their equipment to uphold safety standards and comply with regulations. Physical fitness is important as the role involves lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying product weights ranging from 20 to over 80 pounds and working in various weather conditions. The position requires registration with the FMCSA Clearinghouse and compliance with Department of Transportation regulations.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
  • Minimum of six months commercial driving experience or three months commercial driving experience in the food and/or beverage delivery industry
  • Ability to operate manual transmission preferred
  • Must be able to read and communicate in the English language
  • Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 20 to 80+ lbs of product repetitively during each shift
  • Comfortable driving and working in inclement weather conditions with frequent stops

Job Duties

  • Safely drive trucks to customers and meet scheduled customer delivery times
  • Carefully unload products from the trailer with a two-wheeler, pallet jack, or by hand and place in designated customer storage areas
  • Verify accuracy of delivery with customers and obtain proper signatures
  • Handle collections and payments from customers when applicable
  • Professionally perform customer service responsibilities to enhance our client experience
  • Perform all pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspection
