Job Description

US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor dedicated to delivering exceptional products and services to its customers across the United States. As one of the largest companies in the foodservice industry, US Foods partners with a diverse range of clients including restaurants, healthcare facilities, hospitality providers, and other foodservice establishments. The company prides itself on its commitment to innovation, reliability, and community support, making it a trusted name for foodservice solutions nationwide. Known for its robust distribution network and extensive product portfolio, US Foods plays a pivotal role in shaping the culinary landscape by enabling its customers to succeed and grow.

The role of a US Foods Driver is integral to the company’s mission of delivering high-quality ingredients and products safely and efficiently. This position offers both full-time work schedules and competitive compensation, with top earners able to make approximately $45 per hour. New hires may be eligible for a $5,000 retention bonus, reflecting the company’s appreciation for dedicated drivers. Drivers typically work from Sunday night to Friday, with routes dispatched between 10 PM and 3 AM, and opportunities for four or five-day workweeks allowing two or three days off during the week. Occasional Saturday morning returns may be required. This varied schedule is designed to provide flexibility while ensuring timely delivery to customers.

In this role, drivers are responsible for safely navigating routes to deliver food products to customers, adhering to scheduled delivery times while maintaining the highest levels of safety and professionalism. The work involves operating trucks equipped with manual or automatic transmissions, utilizing equipment such as two-wheelers and pallet jacks to carefully unload products, and ensuring deliveries are accurate by obtaining customer signatures. Moreover, the driver is expected to handle collections or payments when necessary and perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections to guarantee vehicle safety and compliance.

Physical demands of the job require drivers to lift, carry, push, and pull loads ranging from 20 to over 80 pounds repeatedly throughout their shifts. They must be comfortable navigating inclement weather conditions and managing frequent stops—often 10 or more per shift. This position requires excellent communication skills in English and the ability to understand and respond to highway signs, traffic signals, and official inquiries.

Candidates must register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, an online database mandated by the Department of Transportation, to ensure compliance with federal drug and alcohol testing regulations for commercial drivers. Eligibility requires a valid CDL Class A license with necessary endorsements issued by the state of residence, along with a minimum of six months of commercial driving experience in any industry or three months in the food or beverage delivery sector. The company welcomes candidates who can operate manual transmissions, which may be required in certain locations.

US Foods fosters a culture grounded in integrity, reliability, and collaboration. Drivers are not just deliverers but vital representatives who build lasting relationships with customers while exemplifying the company’s values through every interaction. The company’s comprehensive Total Rewards package reflects its commitment to valuing and supporting its employees, offering benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, life insurance, disability coverage, and more. For those passionate about driving and looking to advance a career in the foodservice distribution industry, US Foods offers an excellent opportunity to grow and succeed within a well-established, supportive environment.
