Job Description

US Foods is one of America's leading foodservice distributors, committed to providing exceptional products and services to a wide range of customers including restaurants, healthcare facilities, hospitality businesses, and educational institutions. Known for their dedication to quality and customer service, US Foods has established a strong reputation in the food industry by continuously improving their operations and creating opportunities for their employees to grow and succeed. As a major player in the food distribution sector, US Foods plays an integral role in helping customers make it by delivering the products and resources necessary for their success. The company values integrity, reliability, and fostering trusting relationships with both customers and employees. With a focus on innovation and community, US Foods empowers its workforce with comprehensive benefits and authentic career advancement opportunities, making it an employer of choice for those passionate about the foodservice industry.

The role of a US Foods Driver is crucial within the company’s operations, acting as the primary face of US Foods to customers. This position entails safely operating trucks to deliver food products and supplies to various businesses, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries. Drivers at US Foods benefit from a detailed schedule that typically runs from Sunday night to Friday, with occasional Saturday morning returns. Flexible workweeks include options for 4 or 5 day shifts and 2 or 3 days off during the week, averting the burnout often associated with commercial driving. Routes generally dispatch between 10pm and 3am, and drivers should be ready to perform team routes and layover routes as needed. The position offers competitive pay, with top earners averaging up to $45 per hour and a $5,000 retention bonus for new hires, highlighting the company’s commitment to rewarding skill and dedication.

This driver role involves physically demanding tasks such as lifting and carrying products ranging from 20 to 80 plus pounds, loading and unloading equipment like two-wheelers and pallet jacks, and working in inclement weather conditions while adhering strictly to safety standards. Attention to detail is essential, as drivers verify delivery accuracy, obtain proper documentation, and perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain compliance and safety. Additionally, exemplary customer service skills are required to ensure a positive customer experience, including handling collections and payments when applicable. Drivers must be fully registered with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, meet federal and state driving qualifications, and demonstrate the ability to read and communicate effectively in English. US Foods supports its drivers not only through competitive compensation and benefits but also by fostering a culture that emphasizes respect, collaboration, and service excellence. This role is an excellent fit for individuals with commercial driving experience who are looking to build a rewarding career in a dynamic and supportive environment.
