Job Description
US Foods is one of the largest foodservice distributors in the United States, known for its commitment to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction. With a rich history of promoting from within and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, US Foods has established itself as a leader in the industry. The company offers a wide range of food products, equipment, and services to restaurants, healthcare facilities, and hospitality businesses. Known for its strong leadership and dedication to safety, US Foods values its employees as key contributors to the company’s success and growth. It offers excellent training programs and a supportive work environment designed to help its team members advance their careers. The company is deeply committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, welcoming applicants from various backgrounds, and fostering a culture where every employee feels valued and empowered.
The US Foods Driver position is a crucial role within this dynamic organization. Drivers represent the face of the company to many customers and play a significant part in ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of foodservice products. This role is full-time and offers competitive compensation starting at $28.53 per hour with component pay, increasing to $30.34 per hour after one year of service. Flex scheduling options provide drivers with the opportunity to balance their professional and personal lives effectively. Multiple shift schedules are available, encompassing both 4-day and 5-day workweeks, with potential weekend work depending on the schedule.
Drivers are responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles to deliver food products to customers, ensuring that deliveries occur punctually and accurately. This includes carefully unloading products using equipment such as pallet jacks and two-wheelers, verifying delivery accuracy, and obtaining necessary signatures. The role also involves handling customer payments when required and delivering high-quality customer service to enhance client satisfaction. Drivers are expected to perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to maintain vehicle safety and compliance. The physical demands of the job include lifting and moving heavy products of up to 80 pounds repeatedly throughout shifts and working under various weather conditions.
US Foods drivers must possess a valid CDL Class A license with the necessary endorsements and meet Department of Transportation qualifications. Experience in commercial driving, especially within the food and beverage delivery industry, is preferred, although relevant driving experience from other industries is also considered. The ability to operate manual transmission vehicles may be required depending on location. Clear communication skills in English are necessary to understand traffic regulations and to engage professionally with customers. Importantly, all drivers must be registered with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, a federally mandated database monitoring drug and alcohol violations for commercial drivers.
US Foods supports its drivers with a comprehensive benefits package that starts from day one and includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, and stock options. The company also provides free wellness programs, training, an employee assistance program, and access to exclusive employee discounts and perks such as PerkSpot. Additionally, tuition reimbursement is available to support ongoing education and development. This role offers the potential for career advancement within a company known for valuing its workforce and promoting from within. Join US Foods as a delivery driver to become part of a dedicated team focused on excellence, safety, and making foodservice delivery easy and reliable.
