Job Description

US Foods is one of the largest foodservice distributors in the United States, known for its extensive product offerings and commitment to supporting foodservice operators. The company has a strong culture rooted in promoting from within, providing excellent training programs, and fostering a continuous improvement mindset. US Foods serves a wide array of customers, ranging from independent restaurants to large-scale foodservice operations, by delivering high-quality food products and exceptional service. With a focus on innovation and integrity, US Foods is dedicated to helping its customers succeed and grow in their respective markets.

The role of a US Foods Driver is pivotal to the company’s operations, serving as the frontline representatives who deliver products safely and efficiently to customers. This position offers a competitive starting wage of $29.00 per hour, increasing to $32.00 per hour after 90 days, reflecting the company’s investment in its drivers. Typically, drivers work five days a week between Monday and Saturday, with start times ranging from 3 AM to 5 AM. US Foods values its drivers not only for their driving skills but also for their professionalism and commitment to customer service.

As a US Foods Driver, your primary responsibility will be the safe operation of delivery trucks to ensure timely deliveries that meet customer schedules. You will be responsible for unloading products carefully by using equipment such as two-wheelers and pallet jacks or by hand, ensuring that items are placed in designated customer storage areas accurately. Verification of delivery accuracy with customers and obtaining the correct signatures is a crucial part of the job, as is handling collections and payment from customers when necessary.

This role requires vigilance in performing all pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the delivery equipment to maintain safety standards. Physical demands are significant and include the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull between 20 and over 80 pounds of product repeatedly during shifts. Drivers must also be comfortable driving and working in various weather conditions with frequent stops — more than ten stops per shift are typical.

Candidates must register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse as a regulatory requirement and hold a valid CDL Class A license with the necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications. Drivers must be at least 21 years old and should have at least six months of commercial driving experience in any industry or three months if specifically in food or beverage delivery. The ability to read, communicate effectively in English, and operate a manual transmission (preferred and sometimes required by location) are also essential.

US Foods emphasizes the importance of its drivers as a key component of its customer service and operational success. The company fosters a supportive work environment where drivers are recognized for their integrity, reliability, and commitment to building strong customer relationships. Additionally, US Foods offers competitive total rewards including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and more to ensure drivers feel valued and supported.

Overall, this position is ideal for individuals seeking a fulfilling career in the foodservice distribution industry with opportunities for growth and ongoing professional development within a reputable and established company.
