Job Description
US Foods is one of the largest food distributors in the United States, known for its commitment to excellence and continuous improvement. The company has a rich history and culture that promotes growth from within, offering excellent training programs and career advancement opportunities. US Foods plays a vital role in the foodservice industry by delivering high-quality products and exceptional services to a wide range of customers, including restaurants, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions. Their focus on safety, customer satisfaction, and innovation has helped them maintain a leadership position in the distribution sector.
The role of a US Foods Delivery Driver is crucial in maintaining the company’s reputation for reliability and professionalism. This position offers a competitive hourly wage starting at $30.92 plus additional component pay, with typical work schedules involving five days a week between Monday and Saturday, and start times ranging from 3am to 7am. Drivers are responsible for safely transporting goods to customers, ensuring deliveries are on time and accurate. The job requires physical stamina as drivers often need to lift and move heavy products weighing between 20 to over 80 pounds repetitively during each shift. Working conditions may include inclement weather and frequent stops to ensure proper delivery and customer service.
Drivers must have a valid CDL Class A license with necessary endorsements and meet all Department of Transportation qualifications. The position requires a minimum of six months of commercial driving experience in any industry or three months in the food and beverage delivery sector. Preference is given to those who can operate manual transmissions, as this may be required in certain locations. Additionally, drivers must be at least 21 years old and fluent in English to understand traffic signs, communicate effectively with customers, and complete required documentation.
US Foods emphasizes safety, integrity, and customer service in every driver’s responsibilities. Drivers are expected to perform pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections to ensure vehicle safety. They unload products carefully using equipment such as two-wheelers or pallet jacks and place them in designated areas at customer sites. Handling collections and payments may also be part of the job, requiring professionalism and strong interpersonal skills. Drivers act as important representatives of US Foods, building trust through consistent, quality service.
Working at US Foods means joining a company that values total rewards, including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401K savings plans, life insurance, and a strong focus on employee safety. The company provides excellent local leadership and a culture that supports personal and professional growth. In addition to competitive pay, employees benefit from various perks such as pre-tax spending accounts, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability coverage, and an employee stock purchase plan.
US Foods requires all drivers to register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, a secure online database that provides real-time information about CDL holders' drug and alcohol program violations. This registration is mandatory and is part of the company’s commitment to safety and compliance with Department of Transportation regulations. US Foods invites dedicated drivers to join their team and contribute to a company that not only helps customers succeed but also supports its employees in building rewarding careers. By working at US Foods, drivers become part of a respected organization known for its collaborative spirit, service excellence, and dedication to making a positive impact in communities across the country.
