The Tuscaloosa, AL shuttle yard location is currently seeking experienced drivers to join their team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to work locally with a reputable company that values safety, reliability, and customer service. The primary responsibility of a US Foods driver is to safely deliver foodservice products to customers within scheduled delivery times. Drivers will be expected to handle products carefully, using equipment such as two-wheelers and pallet jacks to unload deliveries and place items in designated customer storage areas. Accuracy in verifying deliveries and securing customer signatures is essential to maintain quality and trust. In addition to delivery, drivers will handle pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections to ensure the vehicle is safe and compliant with regulations.
This position also requires excellent communication skills as drivers will interact professionally with customers and occasionally handle collections and payments. The physical demands of the job include lifting and carrying products ranging from 20 to over 80 pounds, as well as operating under various weather conditions with frequent stops throughout the day. Candidates should be comfortable driving manual transmission vehicles if required at specific locations.
To be eligible for this role, drivers must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid CDL Class A license with necessary endorsements, and meet DOT qualifications. A minimum of six months of commercial driving experience is required, with preference given to those with experience in food or beverage delivery. Additionally, all drivers must register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse to comply with federal regulations related to drug and alcohol program violations among commercial drivers.
US Foods offers competitive compensation with a base rate of around $300 per day plus performance-based incentives. Overtime pay and additional compensation based on mileage, stops, or cases delivered may also apply. Job Requirements
- Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
- Minimum of six months commercial driving experience or three months commercial driving experience in the food and/or beverage delivery industry
- Ability to operate manual transmission preferred
- Must be able to read and communicate in the English language
- Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 20 to 80+ lbs. of product repetitively during each shift
- Comfortable driving and working in inclement weather conditions with frequent stops
