Job Description

AmeriGas, founded in 1959, is recognized as the nation's premier propane company, serving over 1.5 million residential, commercial, industrial, and motor fuel propane customers across the United States. With a strong workforce of over 6,500 dedicated professionals, AmeriGas delivers over 1 billion gallons of propane annually from more than 1,800 distribution points nationwide. The company prides itself on its commitment to safety, customer service, and operational excellence, making it a leader in the energy distribution industry. As a federal contractor engaged in safety-sensitive work, AmeriGas maintains high standards for its workforce including drug-free workplace policies and equal employment opportunities, embracing diversity and inclusion.

The Transport Driver role at AmeriGas offers a unique career opportunity for individuals who are safety-minded and customer-focused. Transport Drivers are essential to the supply chain, responsible for driving 11,400-gallon tanker trucks to pick up propane from supply points such as refineries, pipeline terminals, and storage facilities, and delivering it to AmeriGas facilities in the area. This position involves driving approximately 500 miles per day, making four to five pickups and deliveries, and working up to 14 hours daily. Approximately 80 percent of the workday involves driving or waiting at supply points. Drivers are expected to perform routine inspections on their trucks twice daily, attach and operate hoses for loading and unloading propane safely, and occasionally climb ladders to check gauges on bulk tanks.

Compensation for this role includes an hourly wage ranging from $23.87 to $24.87 based on skills, qualifications, and other factors. Additionally, Transport Drivers may be eligible for performance bonuses or sales commissions, depending on their position. AmeriGas supports its employees with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans like 401(k), paid parental and military leave, vacation and sick time, paid holidays, and disability coverage. The company prioritizes employee well-being, safety training, and career development while fostering a supportive, inclusive work environment. This position requires applicants to be eligible for a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC), have the necessary endorsements such as Hazmat and Tanker, and meet strict driving and safety records.

Joining AmeriGas as a Transport Driver means becoming part of a nationwide network that is essential to energy distribution. The role is ideal for professional drivers seeking stability with a reputable company that values safety and customer service. AmeriGas remains committed to equal opportunity employment and maintaining drug-free workplace standards to ensure safety and compliance in all its operations. This is an excellent career path for experienced tanker drivers who are motivated to contribute to a leading energy provider while benefiting from competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.
