Job Description
US Foods is one of the largest foodservice distributors in the United States, renowned for its comprehensive product offerings and commitment to quality service. The company has a rich history of leading the foodservice industry by promoting a culture of continuous improvement and internal career growth. Employees at US Foods benefit from excellent training programs and local leadership that prioritize safety and operational excellence. As a major player in the food distribution sector, US Foods supports a vast network of customers that includes restaurants, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions, ensuring they receive their food products efficiently and reliably each day.
The role of a US Foods Delivery Driver is a critical part of this operation. This position involves safely operating trucks to deliver food products to customers, maintaining scheduled delivery times while upholding the company’s high standards for customer service and safety. Drivers work hands-on unloading merchandise using tools like two-wheelers and pallet jacks, verifying the accuracy of their deliveries with customers, and handling any payments when necessary. This role requires a combination of driving skills, physical stamina, and strong communication abilities to ensure a smooth delivery process and excellent client experience.
US Foods offers a competitive wage for this position, with drivers earning approximately $35.65 per hour. This salary reflects the importance of the role in maintaining smooth supply chains and supporting customer satisfaction. Furthermore, the company offers a robust benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plans, life insurance, and a strong culture of safety. This comprehensive approach to employee well-being and development makes US Foods an employer of choice for those seeking a stable and rewarding career in the foodservice industry.
In addition to delivering products, drivers are responsible for pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with Department of Transportation regulations. The role demands physical strength and endurance, with drivers required to lift, carry, push, or pull products weighing between 20 to 80+ pounds during each shift and to work in various weather conditions. A valid CDL Class A license with necessary endorsements is a mandatory requirement, along with registration with the FMCSA Clearinghouse for drug and alcohol program violations.
US Foods fosters a culture where drivers are not only seen as essential operational team members but also as trusted representatives of the company. The organization values integrity, reliability, and professionalism in its drivers and supports their career growth through training, safety programs, and a supportive environment. This job is ideal for individuals who are safety-conscious, customer-oriented, and committed to the demands of commercial driving within the foodservice sector. US Foods stands out by not only helping its customers make it but by ensuring its drivers have the support and resources to succeed long-term in their careers.
