Job Description

Dollar General Fleet is a prominent transportation division of Dollar General Corporation, a leading American variety store chain with thousands of retail stores located primarily across the United States. Dollar General has built a reputation for providing value and convenience to customers in rural and urban communities alike through its widespread network of stores. The company has established its fleet division to efficiently connect its expansive distribution centers with individual Dollar General stores and new locations as the company continues to grow and expand nationally. The fleet department plays a crucial role in ensuring that stores receive their stock on time and merchandise flows seamlessly through the supply chain.

The Class A CDL Truck Driver role within the Dollar General Fleet is an excellent opportunity for experienced truck drivers to join a reputable and steadily growing company. Drivers in this position are assigned to regional home weekly routes, meaning they are designed not just for work efficiency but to prioritize driver well-being with the ability to return home every week. Dollar General Fleet takes pride in maintaining driver work-life balance and even accommodates pets on the road to enhance comfort and morale while driving. As a DG Fleet driver, you will be entrusted with connecting distribution centers to Dollar General stores and new store locations, driving routes that cover significant regional areas.

The compensation package for this position is competitive, with drivers able to earn up to $100,000 annually, a figure that underscores the company's commitment to financially rewarding its drivers. The pay structure includes mile and stop pay, which incentivizes efficient and timely deliveries. Quarterly safety bonuses further reward drivers for adhering to high standards of safe driving. Moreover, employees are paid weekly, ensuring consistent cash flow. Pay rates vary depending on the route, geographical location, experience level, and bonus eligibility, allowing seasoned drivers to maximize their earning potential.

Benefits begin immediately on day one of employment, reflecting Dollar General’s commitment to its drivers' health and financial future. These benefits include a comprehensive and competitive benefits package covering essential needs, a 401k plan to support long-term retirement goals, and new, well-maintained equipment to ensure driver safety and job satisfaction. Newer trucks equipped with modern features help enhance driving experience and reduce operational downtime.

The lifestyle offered to Dollar General Fleet truck drivers fosters a balanced approach to life on the road with a strong emphasis on home time. Regional routes are carefully planned to guarantee weekly home returns, not just in theory but practiced consistently. Additionally, drivers are allowed to bring their pets—a vaccinated, non-aggressive dog or cat—to accompany them on their journeys. Specific requirements apply, such as current vaccinations and registration, promoting a safe environment for both drivers and pets. Pets must be kept in the cab and leashed when outside the truck on any DG property, ensuring adherence to policies.

Overall, the Dollar General Fleet Truck Driver position offers an attractive career path for motivated CDL-A drivers who seek reliable regional routes that allow them to stay connected with their families and maintain personal comfort on the road. If you have a valid Class A CDL, one year of tractor-trailer experience, and desire to grow with a well-established company that values your contributions and safety, this role is a perfect fit. Dollar General Fleet’s emphasis on safety, competitive pay, benefits, pet-friendly policies, and work-life balance makes it an exceptional choice for professional truck drivers today.
