Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a leading broadline foodservice distributor under Performance Food Group (PFG), plays an essential role in America’s food supply chain by delivering quality food products to a diverse customer base. Their customers include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. As a company, Performance Foodservice prides itself on more than just delivering delicious food; the team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts work together collaboratively to support and educate their clients. They provide guidance on operational improvements, menu development, product selection, and overall operational strategies, helping independent restaurant owners and other food service providers achieve their business goals and dreams. The company emphasizes a safe, inclusive working environment and has built a culture around rewards, recognition, and respect for its employees, making it a standout place to build a career in food distribution.

The CDL-A Driver position is a critical role within this organization. The driver not only ensures timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products but also serves as the face of the company, forging lasting relationships with customers and acting professionally as a key touchpoint of customer service. This full-time role typically follows a Monday through Friday work schedule with occasional Saturdays, and dispatch hours begin at 3:00 a.m. Drivers must also be willing to accept layover routes. With competitive pay starting at $88,000 annually after the training period, and a comprehensive benefits package, this role offers significant growth opportunities, especially for individuals interested in a career in logistics and food distribution.

This position involves driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on both intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive and drop routes. Drivers will perform essential safety checks such as pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and maintain company safety standards by reporting any issues promptly. Accuracy in completing paperwork related to freight and deliveries is crucial, as is customer interaction to verify deliveries and collect payments when necessary.

Beyond driving, CDL-A Drivers will unload deliveries, manage any damaged goods, and ensure trailers and freight are securely locked and handled according to company protocols. Daily records of hours of service must be maintained in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations. The role also requires performing general housekeeping duties related to the truck and loading areas and securing all equipment and paperwork at the end of each shift.

Applicants should note that the company supports equal employment opportunity (EEO), regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, marital status, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, and other protected characteristics. Performance Foodservice is committed to maintaining a workplace that values diversity and inclusion and complies with all applicable laws.

Overall, this CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice offers a stable and rewarding career path with opportunities for advancement in an industry vital to the nation's food security.
