Job Description
Performance Food Group Customized Distribution (PFG Customized) is a prominent foodservice distributor that caters to the unique needs of some of Americas most recognized national chain restaurants, such as Cracker Barrel, TGI Friday’s, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, and Ruby Tuesday. Operating across the United States and in more than 40 countries, PFG Customized is dedicated to providing tailored attention, centralized contact for product lines, menu changes, and account coordination. As a leading company in the food distribution sector, PFG Customized emphasizes safety, inclusion, and employee growth, cultivating a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect within its workforce.
The company is currently offering an entry-level opportunity for individuals interested in becoming professional drivers within its distribution network. The role involves training and gaining experience in driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, both locally and over-the-road (OTR), including shuttle and overnight routes. Employees in this position are responsible for delivering and unloading a variety of food and food-related products to customers, ensuring all routes are completed safely and in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations as well as company policies. This role serves as a foundational step for individuals looking to establish a career in commercial driving and food logistics.
The position offers competitive pay of $1,040 per week with a schedule primarily from Sunday to Thursday, though dispatch times vary. The company provides comprehensive benefits starting from day one, including health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. This supportive environment fosters growth opportunities through essential work that supports America's food distribution system.
As a driver trainee, the individual will participate in the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program, where they will receive hands-on coaching by riding with and assisting an experienced driver trainer during deliveries. The trainee will perform safety inspections, adhere to DOT and company driving regulations, and learn safe and efficient delivery processes. Responsibilities also include securing freight and equipment, handling damaged goods and customer returns, maintaining accurate delivery logs and records, and performing general housekeeping duties to keep the tractor, trailers, and loading dock areas clean and organized.
This role requires excellent communication and professionalism when interacting with customers, vendors, and co-workers. It is a team-oriented position integral to the company’s overall success and commitment to delivering high-quality goods and service safely and punctually. PFG Customized Distribution values diversity and is proud to provide an equal employment opportunity environment free from discrimination. This position is ideal for motivated individuals seeking to build a long-term career in the transportation and logistics industry with a reputable and growing company that upholds high standards of safety, service, and employee care.
